What is PSU through GATE ?

PSU s like ONGC,BHEL,HPCL,WBSEDCL,PowerGrid,MDL announce recruitment based on GATE 2017 scores. The year 2015 witnessed 27 plus companies recruiting through GATE 2015, the number grew to beyond 40 in 2016. The number has now increased even further and around 50 PSU's have recruited on the basis of GATE 2017 scores.

PSU through GATE 2020 Eligibility

Candidates looking for recruitment through GATE 2017 have to appear for a national level entrance exam in their own branch of study.They must qualify for GATE and possess valid scores. The candidates who have completed or are in the final year of their B.Tech are eligible to give this exam. The candidates who qualify GATE will be eligible to apply to the individual PSU's.

PSU through GATE 2020 Application Procedure

Aspirants should have filled GATE 2017 application form by October 10, 2016. The admit card should be downloaded beginning January 4, 2017. The registration number would be used to fill the PSU application forms. 

Application Fees

After securing qualifying marks in the GATE exam of your stream, candidates have to apply to the individual Public Sector Upholdings whenever the vacancy arises.The application fee for applying to each PSU is different and can be checked at the website of each PSU individually.

The application fee for applying to BSNL as a Telecom officer is Rs.500 for candidate belonging to the General Category.

PSU through GATE 2020 Selection Procedure

All the PSU's have different selection procedures.Qualifying the GATE exam is the foremost requirement to be eligible for applying to the PSU's.Further, each PSU has its own selection procedure and finding the correct number of employees depending on the number of vacancies.There might be Group Discussions and Personal Interviews with different weightage in each PSU.

Candidates applying to Coal India Limited, ONGC just have to face a personal interview, those applying to Haryana Power Utilities will be selected only on the basis of their GATE 2017 score and candidates applying for HAL would have to face an interview along with a group discussion if they clear the GATE cut-off.

Intake

The number of vacancies varies every year.The number of vacancies are announced at the time of releasing the form.The vacancies vary to such an extent like 8 in cabinet secretariat to 2510 in companies like BSNL.

What is the time period for recruitment by PSU's after the GATE result?

It takes at least 5-6 months to complete the recruitment process.After the opening of the PSU application, the candidate has to upload the GATE result when it will be announced.The dates for uploading the documents will be announced later and the candidate has to go according to the schedule.Then the students will be shortlisted and the interview list will be announced.The selection process takes further 20 days.The entire process has adequate gaps in between making it seem like a very long process.
