What is NATA ?

NATA or National Aptitude Test in Architecture measures the aptitude of the applicant in the field of architecture. The exam measures the observation skills, drawing skills, sense of observation, proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical ability over a long period of time that is related to the field of architecture. 

The purpose or objective behind the conduct of NATA is to provide a single scheme of the examination of holding an aptitude test and to facilitate prospective students all over the country to apply for admission seats in architecture institutions spread all over the country and also to avoid confusion by holding multiple examinations.

The actual admissions would be carried out by the concerned institutions based on NATA. It also ensures that the NATA Eligibility Criteria for admission to a five-year bachelor degree course, prescribed by the Council of Architecture and approved by Central Government are strictly adhered to and followed by all institutes.

The Council of Architecture conducts NATA in two parts Part A and Part B. It would be a one-day online examination conducted all over the country. The NATA Exam Pattern would be consisting of Part A which are Multiple Choice Based Questions and Part B which would be Paper Based Drawing.

The NATA Examination is scheduled to be conducted on April 14, 2019. As per the directive issued by NATA Conducting authority, no further examination under any circumstances would be held for a candidate.

In order to be able to take the NATA examination, a candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent OR a 10+3. In case of neither mentioned above, a candidate should have passed an International Baccalaureate Diploma after completing 10 years of schooling.

Qualifying in NATA 2019 alone does not guarantee a candidate admission into his most preferred programs, he would also be required to fulfill additional requirements prescribed by Counseling and Admission authorities. The NATA Application Form has to be filled online on the official NATA Portal. The Application form for NATA is interactive in nature and the fields required to be filled are categorized into relevant sub-sections.

A candidate applying for NATA has to pay fees of INR 1800, application fees in an online mode. This is inclusive of bank fees. Candidates belonging to SC/ST category would be required to pay a fee of INR 1500.

Candidates would be required to download a soft copy of the NATA Admit card and take a hard copy of the same in the NATA Exam center. The allocation of examination centers spread across State Capitals would depend on the availability of at least 250 students.

NATA 2019 Eligibility

NATA Eligibility Criteria has been detailed for the candidates as below:

  • Candidates may come from the following backgrounds:
  • (a) 10+2 or equivalent  with 50% aggregate marks with Mathematics as one of the subjects of examination;
  • b) 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognized by Central/State Govts with 50 % aggregate marks and mathematics as one of the subjects of examination;
  • (c) International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) after 10 years of schooling with 50 % marks and Mathematics as a compulsory subject of examination. 

The lower age limit of appearing for NATA 2019 has been waived off. However, the candidate must comply with any age constraints that might have been specified by the counseling authority. No direct lateral admission is allowed at any other year/stage of B.Arch. course 

The NATA score is valid for two years. Even if you have qualified the NATA, you will be eligible to take admission provided you fulfill the other eligibility criteria as well.

NATA 2019 Application Procedure

The NATA Application has to be done online at the official NATA Portal. The Application Form is interactive in nature and the fields required to be filled would have to be categorized into different sections. The fields marked mandatory should be compulsorily filled up by the candidates. 

NATA Application Form consists of primarily 3 steps:

  1. Personal Details
  2. Document Uploading
  3. Fee Payment

Candidates would be required to fill their personal part and would then be directed to Document uploading. Once the documents get uploaded, the system would direct the candidate to fee payment. The candidate would be required to take a printout of the confirmation page generated on payment of fees. There is no need to send the document by post. 

NATA 2019 Admit Card

NATA 2019 admit card is issued by the Council of Architecture (CoA). Here are a few details about the exam:

  • National Aptitude Test in architecture is abbreviated as NATA.
  • This is a National Level Exam conducted for those students in architecture courses like B.Arch offered by top institutions.
  • NATA scores are accepted by various Government, Government aided and private colleges/universities.

The Admit card of NATA would be available online only and the students must know the steps to download the same. The steps are mentioned as follows:

  1. Candidates would have to visit the official website.
  2. The admit card link would be available.
  3. The link needs to be visited.
  4. A new window would pop-up.
  5. Application number and birthday would have to be updated in the relevant column.
  6. The admit card can be downloaded and printouts can be used further.

NATA 2019 Videos

NATA 2019 Result

Qualifying marks for NATA 2019 would be based on the following rules:

  • At least 25% must be secured in MCQ portion (30 out of 120) 
  • At least 25% must be secured in Drawing portion (20 out of 80)
  • Overall qualifying marks (out of 200) would be based on post-exam statistics depending on the difficulty of the paper, number or candidates etc.

Candidate will not qualify for NATA unless (s)he satisfies all three conditions mentioned above. 

NATA Cut-Offs

The cutoff is the minimum marks, a student is expected to gain in order to get admitted into B.Arch course. Candidates are expected to have 40% or more marks to qualify in the NATA exam which means they must possess at least 80 marks out of 200. The colleges accepting the NATA score declares separate marks on the basis of ranks. The cutoff for NATA 2019 would be declared soon. 

NATA 2019 Counseling Details

Universities/Colleges and states that offer Architecture programmes would be conducting NATA Counseling in a separate way. There would be no separate procedure for counseling as such wherein NATA counseling would be conducted after the declaration of result by the Council of Architecture. The respective college admission authorities would be conducting the NATA counseling after result declaration by the Council of Architecture. 

Candidates should keep track of important dates for NATA Counseling once they know the NATA Result. There are more than 400 institutes that accept NATA Score. The colleges and institutes in the respective states would be holding their own counseling procedure. Candidates qualifying NATA Examination would be applying for NATA Examination on the basis of their scores.

Documents to be Carried

Candidates must know about the required documents required to bring while appearing for NATA Counseling:

  • Original counseling letter along with a photocopy of counseling letter
  • Original Admit card along with a photocopy of admit card
  • Bank draft has to be made as per the guidelines mentioned on NATA prospect
  • All the original and at least 2 photocopies of certificates of 10th & 12th class
  • Rank Card / Hall Ticket
  • Score card (if applicable)
  • Original degree/provisional certificate if the candidate is appearing
  • Community certificate(SC/ST/OBC/Other) signed by the authorized authority
  • Medical documents mentioned on NATA application form
  • 4-6 Passport size photographs color and black and white
