UPES Legal Studies Aptitude Test (ULSAT)

The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun has commenced the online release of the application form for ULSAT 2023. Candidates who are eligible can register for ULSAT 2023 online through the official admission portal of the university at admission.upes.ac.in/apply. The last date to fill the ULSAT application form 2023 is April 25, 2023. Alternatively, candidates can also obtain the offline application form from the university's admission office by paying an application fee of Rs 1,350. ULSAT 2023 is scheduled to be conducted from April 28 to 30, 2023, in online mode, across the country.

The University Of Petroleum & Energy Studies administers the ULSAT for admission to its 3 year LLB, 5 year LLB (BA LLB, BBA LLB, BCom LLB, BTech LLB), and LLM programmes. CBT is the format used for the entrance exam. There are MCQ-style questions on the test. Exams for LLM admission follow a different format than exams for other law courses. The ULSAT qualifiers must then go through group discussions and interviews in order to be admitted. The UPES School of Law (SOL) admits qualified applicants into the programme of their choice. There are 520 seats available in the undergraduate law programmes. There are also 70 seats in total.

The application form for ULSAT 2023 for the LLB program was released on February 1, 2023, on the official website. The last date for registration for the ULSAT 2023 exam is April 25, 2023. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website for updates on the ULSAT 2023 exam for LLM and LLB.

The registration fee for Indian students is INR 1350, while for international students, it is USD 50. Payment can be made online through net banking, debit card, credit card, or cash using bank e-challan.

During the application process, candidates are required to upload a scanned copy of a recently taken passport size photograph and signature. It is important to ensure that all the required documents are uploaded accurately to complete the application process successfully.

How to fill the ULSAT 2023 Application Form?

To apply for ULSAT 2023, candidates can follow the steps below on the official UPES website:

Step 1: Visit the official UPES website.

Step 2: Click on the 'Apply Now' button located at the top right corner of the home page.

Step 3: The ULSAT LLM 2023 Application Form will be displayed. Enter the required personal details.

Step 4: After entering the details, click on the 'Next' button.

Step 5: Choose the mode of payment (Paytm or PayU). Please note that application fees can only be paid through an online payment gateway.

Step 6: Once the fee payment is complete, proceed to fill out the academic details.

Step 7: After filling out all the details and uploading the required documents, review the application and click on the 'Submit' button.

Step 8: Download and take a printout of the ULSAT LLM Application Form 2023 for future reference.

ULSAT 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Criteria 1 – on basis of ULSAT entrance exam

Minimum 50% marks at Higher & Senior Secondary level (10th & 12th).

For LLM - Minimum 50% marks at Higher and Senior Secondary level (X and XII) and Minimum 50%marks in Graduation with LLB Degree or equivalent.

Criteria 2 – on basis of CLAT/LSAT India scores

For BA LLB (Hons)/ BBA LLB (Hons) / BCom LLB (Hons) - 

50% Marks in Higher & Senior Secondary (10th & 12th)

CLAT AIR ranking up to 15000 / L-SAT India Percentile of 60 percentile or above.

For BTech LLB (Hons) -

50% marks in class 10 and 12 PCM.

CLAT AIR ranking up to 15000 / LSAT India score of 60 percentile or above.

For LLM - 

Minimum 50% marks at Higher and Senior Secondary level (X and XII) and Minimum 50%marks in Graduation with LLB Degree or equivalent.

ULSAT 2023 Result

The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, is expected to conduct the ULSAT 2023 examination in the fourth week of April 2023. Candidates who have appeared for the exam can check their results on the official UPES website. To access the results, follow these steps:

Step 1: Visit the official UPES website.

Step 2: Look for the ULSAT 2023 result link on the homepage and click on it.

Step 3: You will be redirected to a new page.

Step 4: Enter your Registration Form Number and Registered Mobile Number, then click the Submit button to view the result.

Step 5: Candidates who have qualified in the ULSAT 2023 written test will be called for further interview and group discussion rounds.

Step 6: The schedule of interviews and group discussions will be communicated to candidates via email to their registered email ID.

ULSAT 2023 Counselling

The ULSAT 2023 Counselling is scheduled to be held in August at various venues, which will be communicated by the university. The mode of counselling, whether online or offline, will be determined based on the prevailing pandemic situation. The counselling process will entail Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI). Attendance in person for ULSAT counselling is mandatory as per the specified schedule. Candidates who opt for the non-examination pathway, such as those based on CLAT scores, LSAT India scores, or Class 12th merit scores, will be directly invited for the GD and PI rounds. It is essential for candidates to carry all the required documents during the ULSAT 2023 counselling process.

Candidates who are seeking admission to the School of Legal Studies, UPES based on their ULSAT scores, CLAT scores, LSAT India scores, or Class 12th merit will be required to visit the counselling venue as per their call letter and participate in the following rounds:

  • Group Discussion (GD) - All selected candidates will be called for GD, where a topic will be given to a group of 6-8 people. Candidates will be required to speak in favor or against the allotted topic, and the jury will individually award marks to the candidates.
  • Personal Interview (PI) - After the GD, candidates will be called for Personal Interview, where their knowledge regarding the law course will be assessed.
  • Document Verification - The process of document verification will be carried out along with the Personal Interview. The examination authority will verify the documents submitted by the candidates to ensure their authenticity.

Note: It is important for candidates to attend the counselling venue as per their call letter and actively participate in these rounds to complete the admission process successfully.

What are the documents required for ULSAT 2023 Counselling?

During the counselling process, candidates are required to bring the following documents:
