What is MAT ?

Management Aptitude Test, widely referred to as MAT, is a management entrance examination conducted at the national level since 1988 and the test is being administered to shortlist candidates for admission to management and allied programs. All India Management Association (AIMA) is the conducting authority of MAT Examination and has been conducting the exam since 1988.

MAT was first approved as a national level entrance examination in the year 2003 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India.

MAT Application Procedure

MAT Registration for the session December 2019 started from 4th October 2019 and candidates willing to take MAT 2019 must visit the official website of MAT i.e. www.aima.in and register themselves for further procedure of application. The examination is conducted in two modes:

  • Paper Based Test
  • Computer Based Test

Candidates willing to take examination via Computer Based Test must register on of before 6th December 2019 and for Paper Based Test, they must register on or before 1st December 2019.

Candidates can also appear for both Computer Based and Paper Based Test.

Candidates must make sure they process the payment of INR 1550 as application fee while filling the application form. Candidates appearing for both Computer Based and Paper Based Test have to process the payment of INR 2650 through online payment mode.

MAT Admit Card

Candidates who have successfully registered for PBT and CBT are required to visit the official website of MAT i.e. mat.aima.in to download their admit cards. The admit card are released separately based on the examination mode you have chosen to take exam in.

For Computer Based Test, the admit cards are scheduled to be released on 10th December 2019 and for Paper Based Test, the admit card will be available on the website from 2nd December 2019.

MAT Eligibility

MAT Eligibility is one of the essential topics about MAT Exam one must know about. MAT Eligibility Criteria has been defined by All India Management Association (AIMA) and it a set of requirements one must fulfill in order to take the examination.

MAT Exam Pattern

MAT Exam question paper is designed to analyze candidates' aptitude knowledge based on which they are shortlisted to undergo Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM). The question paper is divided amongst five sections where each section is comprised of 40 questions contributing to a total of 200 questions.

MAT 2019 Eligibility

  • Candidate must hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University or Institute.
  • Final year students may also apply.
  • The age of the MAT applicants should be at least 21 years.
  • The MAT exam will consist of the 200 objective type questions. Each question carries one mark.
  • There is no age limit for MAT EXAM.

All Forms received at AIMA are scanned / validated within 5 days and the Form Numbers of such received forms will be available on website link: http://apps.aima.in/mat_reciept.aspx . Further, your form is scrutinized and if found in order; it is provisionally registered.
MAT Registration Form received later than the due date is liable to be rejected. Neither any correspondence in this regard will be entertained nor will the fee to be refunded.

  • Click on 'Download Admit Card under quick links on the right side of the page
  • Enter your Name, Form Number, and Date of Birth
  • Click on Submit Button

MAT 2019 Preparation Tips

Cracking MAT successfully requires a carefully made plan, focused study and ample practice with MAT Mock Tests. Candidates need to work on Mathematics, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency, English, Logical Reasoning and GK.

Mathematics:

Candidate should study basic class 5-10 NCERT books. As fast calculations can really help you, try working with fractions-decimal conversions, tables, squares, and cubes to save valuable time in the test.

MAT 2018 Question Paper Analysis

  • Observing the trend of previous year results, an inference can be drawn on what can be called as a ‘good score'. Experts feel that solving 80 questions, with 80% accuracy can guarantee a good score. It comes out as a net score of 60-65 marks with an overall 95+ percentile. Whereas to obtain more than 99 percentile one needs to score more than 82 marks (excluding GK score).
  • Time management is crucial to scoring well in MAT 2017. It is essential to solve a particular section within the allotted time limit and move on to the other.
  • Along with time limit, one must also have a target score for each section. The target scores vary as per the difficulty level of each section. Here is the apt split of marks to achieve and time to spend on sections one must aim for:
