What is MAT ?

MAT (Management Aptitude Test) is a standardized test being administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programs. MAT (Management Aptitude Test) is a standardized test being administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programs. Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD approved MAT as a national level test in 2003. All India Management Association (AIMA) is the responsible body for MAT EXAM. More than 600 B-Schools accept MAT exam scores.

MAT Exam takes place four times a year; February, May, September, and December.

MAT Exam dates and other schedules are announced three months before the exam. MAT Exam is an MCQ type Test where candidates can choose to take the exam in either of the two modes – paper-based or computer-based.

Any B-School - national or international - can consider MAT Score as an admission input based on the Score Cards issued to the candidates. The largest test of its kind in the nation, MAT will continue to be your passport to over 600 B-Schools across India.

MAT 2018 Eligibility

  • Candidate must hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University or Institute.
  • Final year students may also apply.
  • The age of the MAT applicants should be at least 21 years.
  • The MAT exam will consist of the 200 objective type questions. Each question carries one mark.
  • There is no age limit for MAT EXAM.

MAT Application form for MAT May 2018 has already been released by All India Management Association (AIMA). Candidates can fill the form in both Online mode and Offline mode.

The fees for applying from any of the methods is Rs 1550/- INR.

Candidates can obtain their admit card by following the below steps once the admits cards have been made available:

MAT 2018 Preparation Tips

Cracking MAT successfully requires a carefully made plan, focused study and ample practice with MAT Mock Tests. Candidates need to work on Mathematics, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency, English, Logical Reasoning and GK.

Mathematics:

Test Centres

  • MAT Test Centre City list is provided in the Bulletin. Test Venues for Paper-Based Test and Computer Based Test are different.
  • The Paper-Based Test and the computer-based tests will take place on different days.
  • If the number of candidates registered for Computer Based Test is limited and it can be accommodated in a single day; the test will be completed in one day itself.
  • If the number of candidates registered for Computer Based Test is few in a particular center, these candidates have to appear for the Paper-Based Test

MAT 2018 Syllabus

In order to prepare well for the MAT exam, one should be well aware of the MAT Exam Pattern and the MAT Syllabus.

MAT Syllabus Comprises the following five sections:

  • Quantitative Ability 
  • Data Interpretation

  • Verbal Ability
  • Vocabulary

He was preparing mainly for CAT, hence his preparation for Mat was also done.He scored an impressive 99.99 percentile with a score of 800/800.He believes hard work is the only way to success. Since he is was a working professional, he utilized his holidays studying for 8-9 hours daily. He says a daily study time of 3-4 hours would be enough for a hardworking individual to crack MAT. He confessed that English was his weakest part and so he read anything and everything in front of him to increase his vocabulary.

MAT 2017 Question Paper Analysis

  • Observing the trend of previous year results, an inference can be drawn on what can be called as a ‘good score'. Experts feel that solving 80 questions, with 80% accuracy can guarantee a good score. It comes out as a net score of 60-65 marks with an overall 95+ percentile. Whereas to obtain more than 99 percentile one needs to score more than 82 marks (excluding GK score).
  • Time management is crucial to scoring well in MAT 2017. It is essential to solve a particular section within the allotted time limit and move on to the other.

Cutoffs for MAT will be released once the result is out.

The candidates must note that AIMA and other participating Institutes keep the cutoff similar to that of last years. Therefore, we can expect the MAT September Cutoff to be similar to that of previous years.
