The Symbiosis Entrance Test is a common written test that is conducted for the admission process at the UG Institutes of Symbiosis International University which is estabished under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 as per a notification released by the Government of India.

The basic features of the SET Examination are:

  • SET 2018 is composed of 5 different papers: Design, Law, Engineering and Health Sciences apart from a subject that is General.
  • The test would be conducted in both morning and afternoon sessions.
  • A candidate may attempt more than one paper. The candidate would have to choose one paper from the morning and the evening session.

SET 2018 Exam Pattern

Symbiosis Entrance Test would be held in the initial week of May 2018 by the Symbiosis International University. This written test would be conducted at various Symbiosis Institutes and each institute would have its own selection process.Candidates applying for Symbiosis Entrance Test would be required to follow the exam pattern before appearing for the final test. All the information regarding the exam pattern shall be provided on the official website.The entrance test shall consist of 5 question papers such as Design, Law, General, Engineering and Health Science. SET 2018 Eligibility

In some institutes of SIU, SET is a mandatory test that is required to be written, however some SIUs do not use the scores.The entrance test is just the initial step as Symbiosis Institute has its own independent selection procedure. For the purpose of filling seats applicants would be invited to apply for a particular undergraduate course. The Symbiosis Registration would begin from the last week of December and the last date for submission of the same would be in the month of April.

The SET Eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • B.Tech:  Passed in 10+2 examination and obtained a minimum of 45% marks. For Reserved category, it would be 40%. Admission in B.tech can also be done on the basis of JEE Main Scores.
  • BA/BBA/LLB: Pass/Appearing in Grade 12 examination with a minimum of 45%
  • BCA- Pass Grade 12 with a minimum of 45% marks. 40% for SC/ST.
  • BBA - Should have passed Grade 12 with 50% marks. For SC/ST, it shall be 45%.
  • BSc.- Should have passed Grade 12.
  • B.Des - Should have passed 10+2 or 10+3

SET 2018 Application Procedure

SET Application Facility would be made available from December 2017 onwards. Symbiosis Entrance Test would be held by the SIU for admission to various undergraduate courses. It would be a common entrance test for the admission processes at the undergraduate institutes of Symbiosis International University. In order to apply for Symbiosis Entrance Test 2018, the eligible candidates would be required to fill the SET Application Form which would be available from the last week of December 2017.

SET 2018 Study Material

The SET is of an objective type with Multiple Choice Questions. There is a negative marking system for every wrong answer so the student is required to carefully mark the answers from the options given. There are a total of 150 questions and the students are required to complete the test within 2 and a half hours. The five areas of the question are:

  1. English
  2. Quantitative
  3. General Awareness
  4. Analytical Reasoning
  5. Logical Reasoning

The Symbiosis Entrance Test has no proper syllabus. The students are required to practice the questions from the above-mentioned domains.Out of 150 questions, 25 questions would be based on English and students would be required to have clarity on areas like

SET 2018 Admit Card

Symbiosis Entrance Test Admit card can be downloaded by the applicants. The candidates can take a printout of the SET Admit Card before writing the Symbiosis Entrance Test. The SET Admit card would be issued in the third week of April 2018. Once the online application process becomes successful, The candidates can take a printout of their admit card only by entering their registration and other credentials.

SET 2018 Preparation Tips

Symbiosis is one of the pioneering institutes in India in terms of the higher education it provides and caters to. Symbiosis offers courses like Management, Law, Design, IT and Computer Application. The entrance exam is conducted on a national level and 17 test centers would be provided for the candidates.

SET 2018 Syllabus

SET 2018 shall be conducted in an offline mode where the paper would be consisting of 150 questions from five subjects including English Comprehension, Analytical Reasoning, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning. The coverage under the respective areas are as follows:

Reading Comprehension: The English section would contain 30 questions from Comprehension passages. The unseen passages would be containing questions closely related to the passage. The English section would test the language skill of the candidates. 

General Knowledge: The 30 questions of General Knowledge would cover topics such as History, General Science, Economics, Civics and Current Affairs of the past one year. 

Analytical Reasoning: The section would consist of 30 questions inclusive of questions on Permutation and Combination, Mixtures, Blood Relation, Ratio and Proportion, Time and Work, Mensuration, Profit, loss and discount. 

Legal Aptitude: This section would be testing the interest of the candidates towards law, research aptitude and problem-solving aptitude of the candidates. There would be questions on Legal Aptitude as well. 

Logical Reasoning: This section would have 30 questions based on topics such as Number Test, Coding and Decoding, Odd one out, Verbal Reasoning and Analogy.

SET 2018 Counseling Details

Every Symbiosis Institution has its own independent selection procedure for the shortlisted candidates once the results are announced. The institution shall release the list of candidates after the announcement of the result. The institution shall release the list of the shortlisted candidates and the waiting list of the candidates. The schedule of the Symbiosis SET Counselling Procedure is published on the official site of the Institution after which the payment has been made. 

The candidate would be required to qualify Personal Interaction and Writing Ability Test once he qualifies the entrance examination. On the basis of their performance in the Personal Interview and Writing Ability Test, candidates shall get admitted in their filled choice.

SET 2017 Question Paper Analysis

The Symbiosis International University had conducted SET ( Symbiosis Entrance Test) on 6th of May 2017. 

The test is for candidates who are willing to gain admission to its 3-year degree program in the Bachelor of Business Administration programme. 

The test contained a total of 150 questions. The four testing areas were: Quantitative, English, General Awareness, Analytical and Logical Reasoning. The SET Examination does not have any negative marking. 

The pattern of the test are as follows:

  • General English - Moderately Difficult
  • Quantitative - Easy to Moderate level
  • General Awareness - Moderately Easy
  • Analytical and Logical Reasoning - Moderately Easy

The Questions had 4 options wherein 1 mark was awarded for the correct answer with no negative marking allotted.
