What is JCECE ?

The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE) is an annual examination conducted by the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board. The JCECE is conducted to select potential candidates for admission in the graduation programme of Engineering, Medical and Agriculture steams being offered in the government as well as private colleges of the state. Candidate qualifying the examination are eligible to apply for the respective course of all the colleges affiliated to the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB).

Here is a brief description of the streams candidates can opt for after qualifying JCECE:

Engineering: Candidates who wish to take any stream of engineering course can apply for the examination and after qualifying with the required Cutoff of JCECE for that particular college candidate will be able to apply for the Engineering degree college of the Jharkhand State.

Medical: Candidates with the qualifying score can apply for MBBS, BDS and Homeopathic courses being offered by any private or government medical college of the state.

Agriculture: Candidate can opt for Agriculture, Veterinary and Forestry Degree courses in Birsa Agriculture University of Ranchi or colleges affiliated to it.

JCECE Application process is fully online and candidate needs to visit the official website of JCECEB at jceceb.jharkhand.gov.in to apply for the desired course. Aspirants need to pay the requisite JCECE application fee to complete the application process. Payment of Application fee is an online process and is nonrefundable.

Eligibility criteria for JCECE differ depending upon the selected course, however, the basic eligibility criteria to apply for the examination is that the candidate must be the local or permanent resident of Jharkhand State and qualified 10+2. JCECE Syllabus comprise of topics from the class 11 and 12th from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology depending upon the subject group applied for.

JCECE 2019 Exam Pattern like any other entrance examination is conducted in two stages i.e.

  • JCECE Preliminary Entrance Examination
  • JCECE Final Entrance Examination

Candidate qualifying the preliminary entrance examination only be allowed to appear for the final examination. The preliminary entrance examination question paper will compromise questions from physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology divided into 4 parts each having equal weightage.

 JCECE 2019 Admit Card will be released online on the official website jceceb.jharkhand.gov.in and candidates who are successfully registered can download the same after entering the Application Number and Date of Birth. JCECE 2019 Result is scheduled to be released by 4th Week of June 2019.

JCECE 2021 Admit Card

JCECE 2019 Admit card will be issued by the board in the first week of May 2019. One can download the admit card from the official site of JCECE. The admit card will contain the relevant information of the exam and personal information of the candidate. It is mandatory for students to carry the JCECE 2019 Admit Card while appearing for the exam.

JCECE 2021 Exam Pattern

JCECE is a offline mutiple choice objective type test. The test will consist of three section- Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/ Mathematics. JCECE Cut-Offs

JCECE cut off depends on several factors like Availability of seats,choice of a stream, the level of difficulty of the exam. It will be released on the official website after declaration of results.

The cut off is generally the last rank at which the admission closes in a particular college for a particular stream.There will be 2 seperate lists -General Merit List and Category wise merit list.The candidates seeking admission in computer science engineering and Information technology courses need to score well and secure ranks within first 200 – 300 ranks in the merit list. Electronic & Communication Engineering is also expected to have a fairly high cutoff.

JCECE 2021 Counseling Details

JCECE Counselling 2019

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their JCECE rank for the counselling. The counselling will commence in the first week of July 2019. The whole process of counseling will be carried out via Computerized Distributed Parallel procedure.

The counselling fee is applicable as follows:

General category / backward class – I & II category - INR 750

SC / ST Category - INR 500

The allocation of the seats will be done to the candidates through the various rounds of counseling and once the candidate accepts the seat, he or she is supposed to remit Rs. 1000, as seat acceptance fee via D.D., drawn in the favor of “Controller of Examination, JCECEB” and payable at Ranchi.

JCECE 2021 Selection Procedure

Candidates are selected on the basis of their JCECE rank. The JCECE Board will prepare the Combined merit list and Category wise merit list of the candidates who have appeared for the examination. A list of the candidates will be prepared based on the scores obtained in the order of merit for allotment of seats.


JCECE 2019 Reservation Criteria-

  • Scheduled Castes: 10%
  • Scheduled Tribes: 26%
  • OBC: 14%

Physically Handicapped Candidates: Physically handicapped candidates having minimum disability of 40% are eligible for the reservation (only in govt. degree engineering institutes).

TFW Scheme: According to provisions of All Indian Council of Technical Institution, a Tuition Fee Waiver on 5% seats is there. Submission of proper proofs of income is required to claim this.

Candidates have to carry the JCECE 2019 Admit card along with an ID proof while appearing for the exam.

1. Class X and XII mark sheet & admit card along with Passing Certificate.
2. JCECE 2019 Admit Card or the F.I.R copy (in the case of loss of admit card).
3. Caste certificate, Counseling letter & Income Certificate issued by the competent authority.
4. The Dependency certificate issued by the competent Army Officer
5. 01 postcard & 06 passport size photographs
6. The Discharge Certificate (if applicable) IPension Book (only applicable to those who wish to claim seat under SMQ Quota)
