UGC NET 2020 Preparation Tips

UGC NET being such an important exam and taken by so many students make it really tough for the candidates to score well and most of the candidate struggle with the preparation strategy for it. Candidates should know all the important details related to UGC NET like Important dates, exam pattern and syllabus to prepare in the right direction. Having depth knowledge of exam pattern and other details will also help in prioritizing the subjects which need more attention.

Here are some tips and tricks to be followed for UGC NET Preparation:

Be updated: Aspirants need to be aware of all the changes being done in the examination schedule, syllabus or pattern in order to not miss any important information.

A routine study is best: The first thing to give your preparation a great start is to make a timetable and stick to that strictly. Go through the entire syllabus choose the topics which need more attention and divide them equally in the routine to get it completely prepared before the examination.

Prioritize the topics: Aspirants should always remember to bite only the amount that can be chew properly, don't try to overburdened yourselves with trying to cover each and every topic of the syllabus instead analyze the syllabus and prioritize the topics which need to be done on priority. Remember that the systematic distribution of the topics will actually help you prepare in a guided way.

Mock test will help: As per the notifications released by the government, mock tests are available online for the UGC NET aspirants and it is the best way to understand the exam pattern and types of questions being asked in the examination. Regular practice of mock tests will help you improve the speed of taking the questions also it will help the candidate to figure out the topics where he or she needs to pay more attention.

Previous year questions: There are very rare chances that the questions which are already asked will be repeated in the coming examination; however a go through with the previous year question paper will definitely help candidates to understand the type of questions being asked from a particular topic.

Take breaks: Don't tire yourself with continuous studying, instead, take breaks and do the smart study, make technology your mate and ask your doubts to the experts.

UGC NET 2020 Exam Pattern

The UGC-NET examination will comprise two papers i.e. Paper1 and Paper 2.

  • Paper 1 will carry 100 marks and will include 50 questions. All questions will be mandatory and the time duration for Paper 1 will be 1 hour. This paper will be common for all the candidates and will carry questions about general nature, teaching and research aptitude, communication, mathematics etc. The candidate will be awarded an additional 2 marks for each correct answer and there will be no negative marking in this examination.   
  • Paper 2 will comprise of 100 questions and the time duration of this paper will 2 hours. This paper will include questions from the discipline selected by the candidate during registration. The candidate will be awarded an additional 2 marks for each correct answer and there will be no negative marking in this examination.
