UGC NET 2018 Result has been declared on the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) on January 5, 2019. Candidates who have appeared for the examination in the December month of last year can check their respective results by clicking the link available at ntanet.nic.in.

This was the first time when University Grant Commission- National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) was conducted by NTA along with other major examinations including JEE Mains (Joint Engineering Entrance) which is a popular entrance examinations of the country for admission in engineering courses, CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) for admission in management courses and GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) which is conducted for admission in pharmacy courses. This is also the first time for newly introduced computer based online examination by NTA. Candidates had some mixed reaction regarding the new UGC-NET Examination Pattern.

UGC NET 2018 was conducted last year in the second week of last month from December 18, 2018, to December 22, 2018, across the country. The examination was held in two shifts in a day at 235 major cities of the country. A total of 9, 56,837 students has registered this year and took the examination in 85 different subjects.
UGC NET is conducted every year to award Junior Research Fellowship to the aspirants followed by jobs to successful candidates as professors in colleges and universities across the country. As per the UGC policy, the certificates are granted to the candidates who will successfully qualify the examination. From the total appeared candidates, 6 percent of those who qualify both the examination will be declared as NET qualified.

NTA's Senior Director (UGC NET) has mentioned that this was the first time when UGC NET Result was declared fortnight after completion of the examination making it in a record itself. Also, there was more than 8000 CCTV surveillance under which the examination was conducted across various examination centers.
