The candidates aspiring to appear for NET must possess a minimum of 55% marks in Master's degree from a college or university recognized by UGC. The candidates of the reserved category would be provided a relaxation of 5% for the same.
The candidates in the final year of their Master's degree can also apply for UGC NET. Those candidates would be provided provisional admission and will be considered for JRF and Assistant Professor after clearing their Master's degree with a minimum of 55% marks.
The candidates possessing Ph.D. Degree, who have completed their Master's degree before September 19, 1991, will be provided with a relaxation of 5% i.e. those candidates will be required to possess a minimum of 50% marks in their Master's degree.
Age Criteria for UGC-NET:
For Assistant Professor- According to the official website of NET, there is no age limit for the candidates applying for Assistant Professor
For Junior Research Fellowship- The candidate should not be more than 30 years as on July 1, 2019, whereas the candidates of reserved category i.e. SC, ST, OBC, PwD, and women are provided with a relaxation of five years. Relaxation of three years is also provided to the candidates holding LLM Degree.
Exemptions:

The candidates who have already completed their Ph. D. Degree in accordance with GC Regulations, 2009 will be exempted from the NET examination.

The candidates who have cleared UGC NET before 1989 will be exempted from UGC NET Examination.

The candidates who have qualified SET examination (State Eligibility Test) before June 1, 2002 are exempted from UGC NET examination.
Important Information: It is recommended that the candidates give the NET examination in the subject of their Post-Graduation only. If in case the respective Post-Graduation subject is not in the subject list of UGC-NET, the candidate must appear in a related subject.
