NEET is scheduled to be conducted on May 5, 2019. As the General Election is coming closer, the political parties of Tamil Nadu have added NEET in their political manifestos. The DMK Manifesto which was released on Tuesday declared the abolition of NEET examination in the state whereas AIADMK which is in an alliance with BJP for the upcoming polls kept a softer stand on NEET by promising temporary exemption from NEET for the students of Tail Nadu.
Last year, the examination had been questioned by the state which was followed by numerous debates as two NEET aspirants committed suicide and there were 49 errors in NEET Tamil Question Paper against which a petition was filed in Madras High Court.

Later, when Madras High Court ordered that the students who took the examination in Tamil must be given grace marks for each wrong question, CBSE appealed to the Supreme Court and the decision was overturned.
These are the reasons why political parties in Tamil Nadu oppose NEET examination in the state. Earlier when the common medical examination, NEET was introduced in the year 2013, Jayalalithaa spoke against the imposition of NEET in the state. She also said that required measures must be taken to ensure that the state retains its existing system of admissions to medical and dental colleges and appealed that NEET must not be implemented in the state.
The National Testing Agency will be conducting NEET examination in Paper-Pen Mode on May 5, 2019, and the agency has ensured that there wouldn't be any error in regional language question papers. However, the agency has also declared that in case of any confusion the candidate must refer to the English version of the question paper.
