About Madras Medical College (MMC), Chennai

Madras Medical College, famously known as MMC College Chennai is the third oldest medical college of India which was established in 1835 by the then Governor of Madras, Sir Fredrick Adams. In 1857, the college was affiliated to the University of Madras. It was one of the pioneer institutions that provided women along with men with medical education. Mary Ann Dacomb Scharlieb was the first woman in the world that was admitted to a medical college, that is in MMC hence the college has a name in history. The college offers UG, PG, PG Diploma and PG superspeciality courses such as MBBS, MS, MD, DM and MCh. Admission in MMC Chennai takes place through the NEET exam conducted at the national level for some programs and for the rest it is based on merit as well as TNPCEE score.

Madras Medical College or MMC Chennai offers courses at undergraduate, Postgraduate, Postgraduate Diploma and PG Superspeciality levels. UG courses include MBBS, BPT and B. Sc Nursing. PG courses such as MS and MD are offered in several specializations such as MD is offered in Anatomy, Anaesthesiology, Biochemistry, Forensic Medicine, Paediatrics, Physiology, Pharmacology, Physiatry, Radiodiagnosis, Radiotherapy, Community Medicine, and MS in General Surgery, Microbiology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Orthopaedics and Ophthalmology. Admission in MMC Chennai is based on merit as well as entrance such as NEET, NEET PG and TNPCEE. Candidates.

Candidates interested in seeking admission in MMC Chennai must fill the application form available on the official website of the Directorate of Medical Education.

Admission in courses such as B. Pharmacy, BPT and B. Sc is based on 10+2 marks, candidates who have qualified TNPCEE are also eligible.

15% seats for MBBS are filled through NEET counselling, whereas 85% seats are reserved for state quota.

50% seats for courses such as PG Diploma, MD and MS are filled via NEET PG counselling and the rest through state quota.

If candidates meet the eligibility criteria, they will be called for a counselling session with all the necessary documents for verification.

After counselling and verification of documents, they will need to pay the admission fee for the desired course.
