Below are the tips that students must follow in order to CAT 2021 in their first attempt.

  • A Thorough Knowledge of CAT Syllabus
    • A deep dive into CAT Syllabus is the most important tip to start with. Candidates taking IIM Cat 2021 must ensure that they are well aware of syllabus of cat. Though the conducting body of the exam i.e. IIM Ahmedabad doesn't specify any particular syllabus for the exam, but a candidate can figure out a specific set of topics from the previous year question papers.
  • Section-wise Strategy for CAT Preparation 2021
    • As the question paper of cat exam is divided amongst three sections i.e. VARC, DILR, and QA, candidates must take a note of the sectional cutoff of all three section over the past few years and start with the topic which had the lowest cutoff in previous year cat question papers.
    • Though, it will be easy for students if they categories the topics and subtopics of each section according to their priority.
    • Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension – VARC mainly includes questions from Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Vocabulary, and Verbal Reasoning. Candidates are advised to keep reading newspapers in order to increase their reding skills.
    • Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) – There are questions in this section based on Line charts, Bar graphs, Pie charts, etc. This section is mainly to analyze student's logical ability and reasoning skills. Candidates must develop a clear understanding of the basic concepts.
    • Quantitative Aptitude – In order to ace this section, a rigorous practice and preparation. They are required to possess a strong hold on mathematical subjects such as algebra, trigonometry, and mensuration.
  • Manage Time
    • It is very important to be aware of small tricks to solve questions. It does save time. Since the duration of cat exam is 2 hours and there are 76 questions to be solved. Candidates must attain efficiency while preparing for the exam. Taking CAT Mock Tests might help students to achieve this.
