SSC CGL 2017 to be held again, NTA/ CBSE may conduct the exam

The Supreme Court Bench of Justice S A Bobde and L Nageswara Raoon said, “We want such agency to conduct the examinations which cannot be approached,” while giving a decision on SSC CGL 2017 and favored the decision of canceling the examination. The apex court favored the canceling of the ‘tainted’ examination and has asked the Central government to submit the report. SSC CGL 2017 Result was expected to be released in August 2018.

SSC CGL 2017 was conducted for 3,805 vacancies in various ministries and department at multiple level.

During the hearing, Advocate Prashant Bhushan who was appearing for petitioner Shantanu Kumar who sought cancellation of the CGL 2017 examination, said that currently examination is conducted by a private company Sify Technologies Pvt Ltd. and the contract of this company has already expired. After which the Supreme Court mentioned National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for conducting the examination.

The initial investigation in the matter commenced on March 5, 2018, and CBI registered a preliminary inquiry on March 8, 2018. The Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh in the written reply to the Lok Sabha later said that ‘there was no leakage’ of question papers in SSC CGL 2017 examination.

SSC CGL 2017 examination was outsourced to a private company that has already been accused in connection with the Satyam scam.

SSC CGL 2018 Examination:

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has yet not announced the schedule for CGL 2018 examination. The SSC CGL 2018 examination was earlier scheduled to begin from July 25, 2018. The registration process of SSC CGL 2018 was also delayed by a week.

The National Testing Agency is a newly formed examination conducting authority and will be conducting its first entrance examination in December 2018. UGC NET will be the first examination to be conducted by NTA on December 9, 2018. The agency will also conduct other national level entrance examination for higher education such as NEET, JEE Main, GPAT and CMAT. The decision regarding conducting the SSC CGL examination is yet to be taken by the apex court.
