SSC CGL 2019 Preparation Tips

SSC CGL Tier-1 Exam consists of  4 sections which include Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General English and General Awareness with a total of 200 questionsIt is very important to make a preparation strategy for the exam. Maths & English are the most important sections as they are asked in both Tier 1 and 2. Reasoning and General Awareness are asked only in Tier 1

REASONING - Think logically.

 Books to refer: Any good for reasoning would do eg. Arun Sharma for Logical reasoning.

Quantitative Aptitude -This section checks your mathematical ability. You need to be accurate as well as maintain your speed in solving the questions.

Books to refer: Try to finish RS Agarwal for Basics. Can also refer to Class 11th NCERT for Trigonometry.

General studies:  Study in this order->

1.  Polity 

2.  Science

3.  History 

4.  Ancient history 

5.  Current Affairs 

6.  Economy

Books to refer: Just stick to NCERT particularly for History, Eco and modern History. 

English- You can score well in this subject if you have prepared to the right extent.

Books to refer: SP Bakshi authored books can be referred for Grammar. Improve your vocabulary by reading a lot, in general, every day.They have a collection of vocabulary asked in previous year SSC papers and words are usually repeated in SSC.

Preparation Strategy:

  • Manage your Time efficiently. You need to follow proper study routine and stick to it.
  • For maths, start with Geometry first, give it about a week/
    1 day for basic, 1 for lines and angles, 1 for circle, 1 for the triangle, 1 for quadrilaterals and polygons. Also, go through basic algebra.Profit and loss are also super beneficial topics.
  • Give a lot of MOCK tests as well as practice the previous year Papers of SSC.SSC-CGL frequently repeats questions from its previous exams.

SSC CGL 2019 Syllabus

SSC CGL 2017 Syllabus for Tier 1
The level is an online test. There are 100 questions in Tier 1 examination for the aggregate marks of 200. It will have questions from four different sections.

General Intelligence sections would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. General Awareness is concerned with topics that are affecting the society. Quantitative Ability would test the mathematical aptitude of the students. Candidate's ability to understand English and his writing ability would be tested.

The SSC CGL Tier 2 exam consist of two compulsory papers English and Quantitative Aptitude. Statistical Investigator post applicants would have to prepare for topics involving statistics and General Studies.

SSC CGL Tier 3 is a descriptive test while SSC CGL Tier 4 is a Skill Test that tests Computer Proficiency/Data Entry.

SSC CGL 2019 Exam Pattern

SSC CGL 2017 exam is carried in 4 tiers. The first two tiers are computer based test while tier 3 is a written descriptive analysis and tier 4 would skill test. 
There will be four sections consisting of 25 questions each in level 1. A candidate has 75 minutes to attempt 200 marks exam. SSC CGL Tier I would be held from June 19 to July 2, 2017.
 
Tier II comprises Different paper which consists question to assess Quantitative Abilities, English Language & Comprehension, Statistics and General Studies (Finance and Economics) of a candidate. All the papers consist of 100 questions each. For tier 2 a candidate has 2 hours while it is for 200 marks. Tier II is scheduled to be organised on September 5-8, 2017.
 
Tier III is a Descriptive Paper in English/Hindi consisting of Essay/ Precise/ Letter/ Application writing. The total marks allotted for the paper is 100. All selected candidates will be allotted 60 minutes to complete the paper. It is scheduled to take place on November 12, 2017.
 
SSC CGL 2017 Tier IV is a Skill Test and will is proposed in the month of December 2017. It is the final stage of CGL exam. The tier 4 exam is conducted to check the typing skills of the candidate for various posts. This fourth stage is also known as Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) / Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). This exam requires the applicant to press 2000 keys (correct keywords) in an hour.SSC CGL 2017 exam is carried in 4 tiers. All the papers consist of 100 questions each. For tier 2 a candidate has 2 hours while it is for 200 marks. Tier II is scheduled to be organized from 17th to 22 February 2018.
The entire paper including all the sections will carry 800 marks.
