NMAT 2016: 12TH October 2016 pattern analysis

This analysis is for the session timed at 11.30 am. The questions were set to moderate difficulty and there were no glitches in the administration of the exam. An attempt of a minimum of 75-80 questions was considered a good attempt in a span of 2 hours. Throughout the analysis of the exam pattern from day 1 until now, speed and spending not more than a minute on a single question has been highlighted repeatedly. The Section wise analysis is presented below.

Language Skills

·         The section was set to be moderately difficult.

·         Questions on critical reasoning were time consuming and could waste the student's time.

·         Verbal section was to be given priority over reading comprehension as it was easy to score.

·         About 75% of this section was easily attemptable, the rest requiring an informed choice in terms of the answer to be made.

Quantitative skills

·         The questions based on Data sufficiency were easy to crack for a candidate of good quality preparation.

·         The Data interpretation section had easy questions sprinkled around in sets for a keen pair of eyes to identify the ones easier to solve.

·         Attempting about 65% of the section should be good to go.

Logical Reasoning

·         This section being of moderate difficulty had tricky questions which took up a lot of time.

·         A calm mind can solve questions in this section at good speed.

·         A choice can be made to attempt this section first-hand to solve a minimum of 50% of the questions.
