NMAT 2019 Syllabus

NMAT by GMAC examination has been scheduled to be conducted from 4th October 2019 to 17th December 2019. Candidates can apply on and before 3rd October 2019. The test generally determines candidates' ability to solve problems based on their thorough knowledge of Verbal, Quant, Data Interpretation, and Reasoning.

NMAC by GMAC is a computer based online test, qualifying which gets admission to the top business schools. The exam is conducted in multiple sessions and the total allotted time is 2 hours.

In order to appear in the examination, the candidates must be aware of its syllabus. It is very important to know all the important chapters and how much weightage each topic and subtopic hold. The syllabus is primarily divided into three broad sections:

  • Language Skills
  • Quantitative Analysis
  • Logical Reasoning

Detailed Description of NMAT Syllabus

The question paper is generally designed to check students' accuracy and their ability to think and solve the questions. NMAT Syllabus 2019 is expected to have undergone some changes and some different type of questions are expected to appear in the exam.

NMAT by GMAC Syllabus has been updated as per the recent information received by GMAC. In order to prepare well, the students must understand the syllabus that covers all the major topics in each of the three sections.

Language Skills

The Language Skills section is one of easiest sections and it is easier to score well in this section. It just requires a consistent practice and efforts to qualify the examination.

The section is majorly divided into three broad segments:

  • Vocabulary
  • Grammar
  • Comprehension

  • The section comprises of 32 questions to be completed in 22 minutes.
  • Each correct answer gets you 3 marks and there is no negative marking.
  • It tests candidates' command over English language.

Quantitative Skills

The section is meant to cover all the topics of Mathematics subject. The questions that will be asked in NMAT 2019 are expected to be of moderately difficult level. The section contains questions not only of Quantitative Aptitude but also from Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency portions.

Since the level is considered moderately difficult, candidates may find some difficult questions placed amongst easy ones.

  • The section is designed to analyze students' quantitative ability.
  • It comprises of 48 questions to be attempted in the allotted time of 60 minutes.

  • The difficulty level of the section is of 12th class level.

Logical Reasoning

The questions from this segment are primarily based upon Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Critical Reasoning, and Series Completion. The section has been designed to determine students' ability to think beyond the boundaries and get a proper solution to a very hypothetical situation.

It measures students' ability to comprehend and synthesize the information given in the segment.

The section if designed based on the following two areas:

NMAT 2019 Exam Pattern

The NMAT Exam Pattern is prescribed by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). The NMAT Exam Pattern will enable the candidate to understand the type of questions asked, number of questions asked, marking scheme, time duration and many other aspects of the examNMAT examination is a computer-based examination and the time duration of the same is 120 minutes. The question paper will be carrying 120 questions and the candidate must answer each question within a minute to complete the NMAT examination according to the prescribed time. 

NMAT is a 2-hour test containing multiple choice questions. There are three sections: Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning. Each section is individually timed.
