NEET 2019: Exam centres in Tamil Nadu increased to 520 from 210

By: Sakshi Awasthi on March 13, 2019

The National Testing Agency has doubled the Exam Centres for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test i.e. NEET in the state of Tamil Nadu, to avoid the trouble faced by the medical aspirants in the previous years. In the year 2018, there were 210 test centres across the state and the aspirants were forced to travel to different states such as Rajasthan and Kerala to appear for the examination.

NEET 2019

K A Sengottaiyan, Minister of School Education (Tamil Nadu) said, “From 210 in 2018, it has been increased to 520 this year.”

Sengottaiyan further said, “Required infrastructure has been made available for students in all these centres as per Centre's guidelines. Last year, 1.17 lakh candidates wrote NEET. There will be no issues even if more than 1.50 lakh take it up this year.”

The minister further informed that Rs. 248 crores have been released towards reimbursements for 25 percent admissions made in private matriculation schools under the Right to Education Act, 2009.
