Know the topic-wise weightage in CAT 2018

The CAT 2018 examination is scheduled to be conducted on November 25, 2018. While the candidates are busy in CAT 2018 Preparation, it’s the time know the weightage of each topic expected in the upcoming examination.

Before knowing the weightage of each topic, the CAT Aspirant must know the characteristics of CAT Exam Pattern.

Things to know about CAT 2018 Exam Pattern:

The examination will be conducted online.
The candidates will be provided with Onscreen Calculators.
The CAT Question Paper will carry three sections i.e. Verbal, Quant and DILR.
The time duration of CAT examination is 3 hours i.e. an hour for each section.
The VA section will carry 34 questions, DILR section will carry 32 questions and QA section will carry 34 questions.
The candidate will be awarded an additional 3 marks for each correct answer and a mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

CAT 2018

Topic-wise Weightage:

Verbal Ability (VA) Section:

This section will carry 34 questions.
Reading Comprehension is the most important topic in this section and carries heavy weightage.

Reading Comprehension	24 questions with 3-6 questions in each comprehension
Para Jumbles	4questions
Para Summary	3 questions
Odd one out	3 questions

Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) Section:

This section will carry 32 questions.
Topics with heavy weightage: Arrangements, Grouping, Puzzles and Games & Tournaments
At times Cube questions are also covered in this section.

Data Interpretation	Total 16 questions comprising 4 sets and 4 questions in each set.
Logical Reasoning	Total 16 questions comprising 4 sets and 4 questions in each set.

Quantitative Aptitude Section:

This section will carry 34 questions.
Geometry, Profit-loss & interest, Progressions & Series are the topics with heavy weightage.
