GATE 2021 – As per the new exam notification of GATE 2021 announced by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay i.e. IIT Bombay, there could be seen various changes introduced to the various aspects of the entrance examination such as its eligibility criteria, syllabus, and new question papers. These changes have also been introduced to the options for other students coming from non-engineering background.
The GATE 2021 team of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is being led by Professor Upendra Bhandarkar and Mohd. Aslam and they made this announcement through a press release where they also declared the examination dates of GATE 2021 along with the changes introduced. This article gives a detailed and descriptive look at what new changes have been introduced in GATE 2021.
Changes Introduced in GATE 2021
Earlier the exam was used to be conducted on 4 alternate weekends (4 different days) that now has now been changed to 6 days. Considering the outbreak of pandemic COVID-19 outbreak across the country, the examination is scheduled to be conducted on 5th, 6th, 7th, 12th, 13th, and 14th February 2021.
The duo has announced the introduction of two new subjects in the syllabus of GATE 2021. The two new subjects introduced to the syllabus are Environmental Science and Engineering and Humanities and Social Sciences. The syllabus of these two steps is yet not available but will be soon released on the official website of gate i.e. gate.iitb.ac.in.
Candidates willing to take GATE Exam could not appear in one GATE Paper until the last year. From this year onward, aspirant candidates will be allowed two appear in any two papers of their own interest. They will be able to choose any of the two papers of their choices while filling the GATE application form online.
The examination was always set to be conducted for students possessing a bachelor’s degree of 4 years of duration. This criterion is now being set aside and candidates with 10+2+3 qualification will now be allowed to apply for the exam and appear in it.
This particularly means, candidates with a bachelor’s degree in any stream such as Arts, Science, or Commerce will now stand eligible to appear in the exam.
This is one of the most beneficial aspects of the changes introduced in the eligibility criteria of the exam. Students pursuing their final year of graduation can now apply for the exam as there is no age limit for GATE Exam. Thus, students are allowed to appear in the exam before as well as after their graduation.
GATE 2021 would be one criterion for admission to the master’s and doctoral programs not only at Indian Institutes of Technology but also to the National Institutes of Technology along with various leading universities and institutions that accept GATE Scores. The Indian Institute Technology Bombay is conducting GATE 2021 and GATE 2021 is the national level entrance examination conducted for admission to the post graduate programs offered by the Indian Institutes of Technology, the National Institutes of Technology, International Institutes of Information Technology. A valid score in GATE also helps you get through PSU recruitments.
