The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a Scholarship program conducted by IISc Bangalore. KVPY examination is conducted for students of exceptional talent who can pursue basic science and are seeking research career in the field of science. This year KVPY exam is on November 1. It offers scholarship and contingency grants up to the pre-Ph.D. level to selected students. It was first started in the year 1999. It was funded by the Department of Science to encourage students to take up a fellowship program in basic sciences.

The talented students having an aptitude for research can apply for this fellowship. They can thus contribute to research and development in the country.

The KVPY eligibility has been notified by the IISc which states that the candidate must be of Indian origin studying in 11^th standard to the first year of any basic science program can apply for this program. IISc conducts the aptitude test across various KVPY test centres.

Three streams in KVPY: 

1. SA stream: For the students studying Science stream in 11^th standard.
2. SX stream: For the students studying Science stream in 12^th standard.
3. SB stream: For the students studying Science stream in the 1^st year of graduation.

Candidates are called for an interview based on the aptitude test result which is the last stage of KVPY selection procedure. To attain scholarship candidate has to clear both aptitude test and interview.

Following is the weight-age:

• Aptitude Test  – 75%  
• Interview marks in the streams SA, SB and SX - 25%

Candidates need to fill all the personal and academic details properly. Along with this candidates need to upload the photograph, signature as applicable.

3. Fee payment

There  are 2 modes of fees payment:

1. By using a credit card/ATM-Debit card/Net Banking or
2. By downloading and e-challan from the application portal.

Around 1 lakh students appeared for the examination last year. Given below is category wise intake

• 881 students of 11^th standard, 
• 1554 students of 12^th standard 
• 96 students of graduation were given KVPY scholarship.

KVPY will be conducted by IISc Bangalore on 3rd Nov 2019. There is the total of 54 test centres allotted for this exam.

Candidates can select the test centres during filling application form of the KVPY. The conducting body will allot test centres o each individual based on their preference.

Around 1 lakh students appeared for the examination last year out of which 881 students of 11^th standard, 1554 students of 12^th standard and 96 students of graduation were given KVPY scholarship.

Answers keys will be available online after 4-5 days just after the exam is been conducted 

• The official KVPY answer key 2019 will also be released for candidates to cross-check their answers as per their responses in the examination.
• It will be available in online mode only. It can be further downloaded also.
• The answer keys will be available for each set of paper of different streams in pdf format.
• Soon after the answer keys are released the conducting body will release the result of the examination
