UPTET is held for determining the selection of the candidates for Primary and Upper Primary Level Teachers in the Uttar Pradesh schools. Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board is the conducting body which is responsible for the entire examination process.

UPTET Registration timeline has been released by the UP Basic Education Board commencing from 25 August 2017. The UPTET Exam would be scheduled on 15 October 2017. About 10 Lakh candidates are expected to register for the exam this year. UPTET would be conducted in an offline mode in 2 shifts across 200 exam centers in Uttar Pradesh.

All the qualified candidates who completed their Bachelor of Education are required to give the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test in order to be recruited as teachers. The UPTET Exam Pattern consists of 2 papers (Objective MCQ Based) to be completed in 1.5 hours. The Paper - 1 is for candidates aspiring for a teaching job in Grades 1 to 5 while the Paper 2 is for candidates aspiring teaching jobs in Grade 6-8. 
 
UPTET Training certificate is a mandatory document that every candidate looking for a Government teaching job in Uttar Pradesh is required to possess.

What's New ?

On July 26, 2017, a ray of hope was provided to the " Shiksha Mitra " of Uttar Pradesh by the Supreme Court, wherein the verdict pronounced that they would not be removed from employment but would have to clear UPTET in two attempts. Acknowledging their work experience, the Supreme Court made it clear that UPTET exam was mandatory to become an assistant teacher. 

Previously, the employment of "Shiksha Mitras" was canceled by the Allahabad High Court, in consequence of which, the Supreme Court needed to be appealed to.

The UPTET Exam Pattern consists of 2 papers one which is held for the Primary Level and the other for the Secondary Level. The UPTET Exam is held in an offline mode with about 150 Multiple Choice Questions. The UPTET Exam Pattern highlights for Paper 1 and Paper 2 are as follows:

Paper-1

  • Paper 1 of UPTET is for candidates who want to become a teacher for students belonging to Grades 1-5.
  • The duration of UPTET Paper 1 is for 150 minutes.
  • Every question carries 1 mark and there is n negative marking.
  • Paper-1 has 5 sections - (Child Development, Learning and Pedagogy, Languages 1&2, Maths and EVS).
  • Every Section has 30 questions.
  • Every question has about 4 options to choose.

Paper-2

  • UPTET Paper 2 is conducted for students belonging to Grades 6-8.
  • It consists of 4 sections- Child Development, Learning and Pedagogy, 1st Language and 2nd  Language) carry 30 questions each.
  • Maths/Social Studies carry 60 Questions.
  • Every Question in UPTET Paper 2 carries 1 mark.
  • Every question has 4 answer choices.

UPTET 2018 Eligibility

Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board has announced the eligibility conditions for all the applicants who appear for UPTET 2017.The UPTET Eligibility Criteria has been decided on a separate basis for both the papers. The UPTET eligibility criteria have been specified highlighting the educational qualifications required by the candidates as per their choice of paper. UPTET 2017 consists of 2 papers - Paper 1 for those candidates who wish to teach Grade 1-5 and those who teach Grade 6-8.

Eligibility Criteria Grade 1-5

  • Graduate with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Qualified Graduation from Colleges/Universities established by Law.
  • Candidate should be a graduate in 2 year BTC/CT/NTT from colleges recognized by UGC.
  • Candidate should have qualified intermediate or equivalent with at least 50% and passed or appearing in the final year of 4 years elementary education.

Eligibility Criteria Grades 6-8

  • Candidates should have qualified Intermediate with 50% and 4 years BA/B.sc.Ed/B.A.Ed recognized by NCTE/UGC.
  • Candidates should pass intermediate with minimum 50% and 4 years Bachelor degree 
  • Candidates should have graduated with a minimum of 45% in schools/universities recognized by law.

UPTET 2018 Application Procedure

UPBEB has commenced the online application procedure on August 25, 2017. The candidates can register for the UPTET until September 8, 2017. 

UPBEB, exam conducting body would decide the eligibility conditions for UPTET Applicants 2017. Applicants must check the UPTET Eligibility criteria and decide if they are eligible for the exam. Ineligible candidates would not be eligible for the exam. As per the eligibility criteria, candidates must hold a relevant degree in the discipline to participate in the UPTET Exam.

Candidates should remember that UPTET 2017 Application Form would be made available online and candidates who submit through any other mode would not be allowed to participate in the exam. The UPTET Application Form needs to be submitted before the last date.

Candidates should read the instructions carefully before filling the UPTET Application Form as incorrect and incomplete forms would be rejected.

UPTET 2018 Selection Procedure

UPTET convening Board has announced the Selection Procedure wherein candidates would have to register for the exam and clear with the desired cutoff in order to qualify as a Government Teacher. The UPTET is conducted once a year and the validity of the UPTET Certificate issued is for 5 years.

Teaching is a good profession in India and has good growth chances. It is mandatory for a candidate to have a B.ed, BTC and NTT Degrees to apply for teaching positions. Once a B.ed degree is done, there are defined levels like TGT, PRT and PGT in which a teacher can be joined subject to eligibility and educational qualifications.

The TET Certificate would consist of details like - Name and Address of the candidate, Date of Birth, Registration Number, Marks Secured in various papers, class level of its validity and the subject areas in cases of Grades 6 to 8. The certificate can also be generated electronically with security features in place.

The UPTET Result would be declared in the month of November 2017. All the candidates are required to score a minimum of 60% to qualify ( 90/150) in the UPTET Exam to qualify.Candidates securing the respective ranks corresponding to UPTET Cutoff would be declared UPTET Qualified.

UPTET 2018 Admit Card

UPTET Admit Card is issued by Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board. The UPTET Admit Card would be available in 2017. Candidates who fill the UPTET Application Form successfully can visit the official website to download the admit card.

  1. Candidates have to specify their Registration number and Password to get access to their UPTET Hall Ticket.
  2. In case of any discrepancy, the students must contact secretarypnp.up@gmail.com
  3. It must be noted that not a single hard copy is sent by post.
  4. The candidate must also carry his UPTET Application Form, two color photographs, payment receipt and a valid ID Proof.

The downloading procedure for UPTET Admit card is as follows:

  1. Visit the UPTET Official website.
  2. No hard copy of the admit card would be sent to the candidates.
  3. The candidates must click on the link available for UPTET Admit Card.
  4. Registration Number and Password must be entered.
  5. Once the security code and captcha image is entered, submit option must be clicked.
  6. The final UPTET Admit Card would appear which the candidates can take a printout or save the same.

The following things need to be taken care of as reasons for problems in downloading the same:

  1. Incomplete Application Form
  2. Internet Speed Low
  3. Incorrect Details being entered

In case a  candidate forgets his application number, he can retrieve the same by clicking on forgot application link. A new window would open to that and the following details would be asked:

  1. Candidate Name
  2. DOB
  3. Mobile Number
  4. Email ID

Once these are entered, submit option can be clicked. UPTET Admit Card would be taken for future reference.

UPTET 2018 Preparation Tips

The following are a few tips that should be kept in mind at the time of preparing for UPTET 2017:

  • A single question should not take up too much of time.
  • Do not hurry on any question.
  • Read all the questions and identify those that are your strong points.
  • Stay relaxed and calm.
  • Solve the ones that you know and increase your confidence.
  • There is no negative marking in the paper therefore candidates need not leave any question unanswered.

Test Centres

UPTET would be conducted in about 75 cities in Uttar Pradesh which is conducted in 2 shifts across 200 centers in Uttar Pradesh. The candidate can choose only one of the exam centers in the course of fulfilling the UPTET Application Procedure. The Uttar Pradesh Examination Regulation, Allahabad has the final right to allot a different exam center than the one that is chosen by the candidate.

UPTET 2018 Syllabus

UPTET is conducted for recruitment of Primary and Upper Primary Level Teachers in the school of Uttar Pradesh. Every year, Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board would determine the syllabus of the exam.

There are usually 2 papers that the candidate can appear in:

Paper 1: Grade 1-5 (Primary Level)

Paper 2: Grade 6-8 (Upper Primary Level)

UPBEB has prescribed a different syllabus for every paper.

 The UPTET Syllabus for Paper 1 has questions from Child Development, Learning and Pedagogy, Languages 1 and 2, Mathematics and Environmental Studies.

Paper 2 of UPTET has questions from Child Development, Learning and Pedagogy, Language 1 and 2, Mathematics or Social Studies.

Every paper would have 150 Objective Multiple Choice Questions.

UPTET Cut-Offs

Once the UPTET Result is announced, the cutoff is released. The cutoff usually depends on the number of applicants, seat availability and difficulty level of the exam. On the basis of UPTET Cutoff, the conducting body prepares the merit list of qualifying candidates. Candidates who qualify the cutoff are awarded the UPTET Eligibility certificate.
