UPTET 2019 Preparation Tips

The UPTET Exam is usually conducted in the month of December for which the last minute tips and strategies are as explained below:

Child Development and Pedagogy

There would be about 30 questions in this section. Candidates should not devote more than 20-25 minutes in this section. This subject is psychological and depends more on the perception of an individual about a subject.  A candidate can easily score 20+ by devoting all his attention in this section. The important topics are as given below

  1. Child Development Concept and Theory
  2. Learning and Pedagogy
  3. Inclusive Educational content

Language

In the Hindi/English section, there would be 30 questions from a reading passage, one poem passage and pedagogy questions. These topics are the ones a candidate must prepare:

  • Pedagogy questions
  • Poem passage
  • Reading passage

Environmental Studies

This is one of the moderate sections in UPTET. Questions would be usually asked from Family, Food and Nutrition, Shelters, Science, Geography, History and Pedagogy. You can score 20+ in this section. Important topics are given as below:

  1. Basic things for EVS
  2. Science
  3. Shelter and Water
  4. EVS Pedagogy

Mathematics

This section consists of 30 questions and is very time-consuming. Those questions which are less time consuming should be attempted by the students. Important topics for the same are given as below:

  1. Simpification
  2. Number Series
  3. Data Problems
  4. Arithmetic Problems

Social Science

This section would consist of 60 questions. Questions would be asked from Geography, History, Polity and Pedagogy. About 40+ can be easily scored in this section.

UPTET 2019 Syllabus

UPTET is conducted for recruitment of Primary and Upper Primary Level Teachers in the school of Uttar Pradesh. Every year, Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board would determine the syllabus of the exam.

There are usually 2 papers that the candidate can appear in:

Paper 1: Grade 1-5 (Primary Level)

Paper 2: Grade 6-8 (Upper Primary Level)

UPBEB has prescribed a different syllabus for every paper.

 The UPTET Syllabus for Paper 1 has questions from Child Development, Learning and Pedagogy, Languages 1 and 2, Mathematics and Environmental Studies.

Paper 2 of UPTET has questions from Child Development, Learning and Pedagogy, Language 1 and 2, Mathematics or Social Studies.

Every paper would have 150 Objective Multiple Choice Questions.

The UPTET Exam Pattern consists of 2 papers one which is held for the Primary Level and the other for the Secondary Level. The UPTET Exam is held in an offline mode with about 150 Multiple Choice Questions. The UPTET Exam Pattern highlights for Paper 1 and Paper 2 are as follows:

Paper-1

  • Paper 1 of UPTET is for candidates who want to become a teacher for students belonging to Grades 1 to 5.
  • The duration of UPTET Paper 1 is for 150 minutes.
  • Every question carries 1 mark and there is n negative marking.
  • Paper-1 has 5 sections - (Child Development, Learning and Pedagogy, Languages 1&2, Maths and EVS).
  • Every Section has 30 questions.
  • Every question has about 4 options to choose from.

Paper-2

  • UPTET Paper 2 is conducted for students belonging to Grades 6 to 8.
  • It consists of 4 sections- Child Development, Learning and Pedagogy, 1st Language and 2nd  Language) carry 30 questions each.
  • Maths/Social Studies carry 60 Questions.
  • Every Question in UPTET Paper 2 carries 1 mark.
  • Every question has 4 answer choices.
