IIT JAM 2019 Counseling Details and Schedule, Scorecard Available @jam.iitkgp.ac.in

The most popular examination for admission in Master's degree courses in IITs and IISc is Indian Institute of Technology's Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM), which is conducted every year across the country. This year the examination was conducted by IIT Kharagpur on February 10, 2019 in two sessions.

Scorecard of IIT JAM 2019 is available online on official website and counselling process will start from next week.

 IIT JAM which opens doors of opportunities for the students who wish to complete M.Sc. programme, Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, and others from IITs and IISc is one of the popular exams of the country. Thousands of students apply for the same. 

As per earlier available notification from the authorities, IIT JAM 2019 Counselling process will start in the second week of April 2019 after the release of merit list on basis of all India ranks of the candidates in the examination.

Candidates qualifying the examination and making it to the merit list will be eligible to apply for the courses in participating institutes. Candidates can visit the official website and fill the application form for admission procedure further.

Key Highlights of IIT JAM Admissions:

  • The admission procedure will be conducted online.
  • Admission process in all the courses will start from June 2 and will be completed before July 3.
  • Depending upon the fulfillment of minimum required criteria by the candidate like Educational Qualifications (MEQs) and other Eligibility Requirements of the participating institute, applicants can apply for one or more courses covered under the test paper.

IIT JAM 2019 Merit List:

  • Candidates qualifying the examination will be awarded the rank based on their total score.
  • A merit list will be prepared based on the AIR of the candidate and considering the total number of seats reserved for each category like OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD for each individual subject.
  • Candidates making into the merit list will be eligible to apply for any of the relevant courses offered at IITs and IISC.
  • Candidates can check their All India Rank and total marks scored in the examination in IIT JAM 2019 Scorecard available on the website.

IIT JAM Tie Breaking Procedure:

As the number of applicants is high and so is the probability of two and more students getting the same score, which impact the allotment of rank to the candidate. To deal with such scenarios authority follow tie-breaking procedure as mentioned below:

  • Candidates who have a high ratio of positive marks in comparison to negative marks are awarded higher rank.
  • In case the ratio of positive to negative remain the same for the competing student's candidates will be allotted the same ranks.

IIT JAM 2019 Counselling Process:

  • Counseling process starts after the release of JAM 2019 Result, qualified candidates can visit the official website and fill the JAM Admission Form.
  • Admission list of a particular subject will be prepared based on the preferences put up in the admission form by the candidate.
  • Three admission list will be released by IIT Kharagpur in specific intervals as part of IIT JAM Counselling Procedure.
  • Selected candidates who will be offered seats through counseling needs to visit the website and login with required credentials. Candidates will have to select any of the three options available on the page. The options will be Accept and FreezeAccept with Upgrade, and Reject and Quit.
  • The candidate who is not happy with the allotted institute or course can choose the option of Reject and quit. Such candidates will not be considered further for the admission procedure.
  • Candidates opting for Accept and Freeze or Accept with Upgrade will have to pay the required “Seat Booking Fee” the same can be done online using net banking/credit/debit card.
  • In case a candidate decides to withdraw, amount of Rs. 1000 will be deducted from the total seat booking amount and the rest of the amount will be refunded.

Documents to be carried at the time of IIT JAM 2019 Counselling:

Candidates accepting the admission needs to visit the mentioned IIT or IISc on the mentioned date with the below-mentioned documents:

  • Class 10 and Class 12 Certificate
  • Qualifying Degree Certificate
  • Degree Mark sheet (If completed)
  • Marksheet until last attempted semester (If the candidate is in Final Year and result awaited)
  • Nationality Certificate for General Category
  • Birth Certificate
  • Valid ID Proof (as Passport/Voters ID/PAN/Aadhar)
  • College Transfer Certificate
  • Caste and reservation certificate for (OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)), SC, ST
  • Valid Certificate for PwD candidates
