Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry is under Government of India since the year 1956 and is one of the leading medical institutes in India. It is spread over a sprawling 195-acre campus in Pondicherry. JIPMER 2018 Admission is be managed by Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry. JIPMER MBBS Examination is a stand alone medical entrance examination that is conducted to determine MBBS Admissions.

The JIPMER Examination was conducted on June 3, 2018.

JIPMER Application

JIPMER Application Form shall be released in an online mode. Candidates would get the JIPMER Application Form from 7th March 2018 until 13th April 2018. JIPMER cannot be filled in any other mode apart from online mode. Candidates can fill the JIPMER online application carefully, such that no changes would be allowed once the form is submitted. The JIPMER Application Correspondence printout should be kept for until future reference.

The JIPMER Application Fee is INR 1000 (INR 800 for SC/ST Category candidates).The fee can be paid only in an online mode (Credit/Debit/Net banking). OPH Candidates shall be exempted to pay the JIPMER Application Fee.

The JIPMER Eligibility Criteria are as detailed below:

  • Candidates must be an Indian citizen.
  • NRI and OCI candidates can also apply.
  • Candidates should have completed 17 years in the year 2018.
  • There is no age relaxation for reserved categories in terms of age limit.
  • Candidates would be required to qualify 10+2 examination from a recognized board.

The candidates should pass the above examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology subjects. Candidates must secure at least 50% marks in the General category, 40% marks (OBC, SC, ST, OPH) and 45% marks in (GEN OPH) in PCB subjects. JIPMER Examination would be held on June 3rd, 2018

The JIPMER Examination details are given as below:

  • The JIPMER Examination would be held in an online mode.
  • The JIPMER Question Paper would be in English and Hindi language.
  • The question paper would be an objective type.
  • 200 questions would be asked in the examination.
  • For every correct answer, one mark shall be allotted to the candidates.
  • There would be no negative marking.
  • Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Logic and English contain a total of 200 questions.

Candidates would be able to download their JIPMER Admit Card in the online mode from the website. The JIPMER Admit Card shall be available from 3rd week of May 2018. No admit card shall be sent through offline mode or by post. The JIPMER Admit Card would contain details such as the name of the candidate, date of birth, exam venue, date and time of exam and the photograph.

The JIPMER Result would be declared in the third week of June 2018. Candidates would be able to view their JIPMER MBBS Result in an online mode. On the basis of the percentile and marks secured by a candidate, the JIPMER Merit List shall be prepared.

The JIPMER Counseling is usually conducted in an offline mode. JIPMER Counselling shall begin from June 27, 2018. The JIPMER Counselling would be conducted in 4 rounds. Candidates would be required to go through Biometric fingerprint and image verification prior to appearing for JIPMER Counselling. Candidate's documents would be verified at the time of counseling. The seat shall be allotted to the candidates on the basis of the merit list declared.

The documents required at the time of JIPMER counseling would be as follows:

  • 10th and 12th Marksheets
  • 10th and 12th Passing Certificate
  • JIPMER MBBS Admit card
  • Age Proof and Category
  • Residence Certificate
  • Passport Size Photographs

JIPMER and AIIMS are the standalone exams that are being held apart from NEET which is the sole medical entrance examination. NEET has been made a nationwide medical entrance exam that would be conducted to unify the medical admission system and to abolish capitation fees that are levied by various private medical colleges.It is the entrance exam for admission to MBBS course offered by Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research for about 200 seats. Courses are provided by JIPMER in Puducherry and Karaikal.

JIPMER 2019 Important Dates

JIPMER MBBS Dates have already been released. JIPMER is a university level examination that is conducted by the Jawaharlal Institute Post Graduate Medical and Research. The JIPMER Exam provides admission in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses. It offers admission to MBBS Seats and the affiliated campus. Candidates can get admission in JIPMER Puducherry and JIPMER Karaikal campuses. Candidates can fill the application form only on completing their eligibility criteria.

Candidates can fill JIPMER Application only on fulfillment of complete eligibility.

JIPMER 2019 Eligibility

As per JIPMER MBBS Eligibility Criteria, the candidates must be a citizen of India. JIPMER MBBS Eligibility criteria are a minimum set of requirements that should be fulfilled by the candidate in order to become eligible for JIPMER MBBS 2018. JIPMER MBBS 2018 Exam shall be conducted on June 3, 2018. The candidates would also have to fulfill the JIPMER Application Procedure in order to be eligible for JIPMER MBBS 2018.

  • Applicants must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology at the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination and 40% (for SC/ST/OBC/OPH (reserved).
  • Examinees must be an Indian national
  • OCI and NRI are most eligible to apply.
  • Candidate must have completed 17 years at the time of getting admitted. No restriction on age for reserved categories.
  • OPH candidates are required to score minimum 45% in the required subjects.

JIPMER 2019 Application Procedure

Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria need to apply online at www.jipmer.edu. The application form is required to be submitted online. The application form would be available to submit May 2018. Candidates would fill the application form through JIPMER official website.Once the application form is submitted, no changes would be entertained.

After filling the form, candidates would be required to pay an application fee of INR 1200 for candidates belonging to General/OBC/P -UR/P-OBC Category, and INR 1000 for reserved category candidates. Fee for NRI/OCI candidates would be INR 2500.

Candidates can pay fees only in the online mode.

JIPMER is one of the premier medical institutes in India. The entrance exam is organized to determine admission into 200 seats for the MBBS course in JIPMER institute. You may refer the application procedure in detail to apply before the application deadline.

JIPMER Puducherry would be releasing the application forms for JIPMER MBBS in an online mode on March 7, 2018. The Last date to fill the same would be JIPMER MBBS Application Form would be April 13, 2018. JIPMER MBBS Application Form can be submitted in an online mode. There would be no offline mode of submitting the JIPMER MBBS Application Form as that is not permitted. 

The link to apply for JIPMER MBBS entrance would be available as soon as JIPMER releases the JIPMER Application Form. Candidates can go through the five-step procedure mentioned for filling the JIPMER MBBS Application Form. The JIPMER Application Fee differs across various categories. Candidates should note that an incomplete JIPMER MBBS Application would be rejected and JIPMER Puducherry would not be providing an opportunity to the candidates to correct the JIPMER Application.

Fees Payment

JIPMER Application Form can be submitted on the JIPMER official website. Interested and eligible candidates would be able to apply for the same from March until May 2018.The student is required to keep official documents handy to submit the form. Before going to the form, The photograph and signature must be scanned to ensure it gets submitted in the right manner.

  • The fee for application form is INR 1200 (General), INR 1000 (SC/ST) and INR 2500 (NRI/OCI).

Select three cities in the order of preference in JIPMER Application form. The final allotted city would be as per the choices filled.

JIPMER 2019 Admit Card

To download JIPMER MBBS 2018 admit card candidates have to enter Application Sequence Number/User Id and Password. It must be noted that the  Admit Card will not be sent through the post. Candidates are advised to read the instructions given in the JIPMER MBBS 2018 Entrance Exam Admit Card as soon as they download it. 

JIPMER Puducherry would release the Admit Card in the second week of May on a tentative basis. The link to download the Admit Card would be made available as soon as the same is released on the official site. The Admit card would be mentioning the following details:

  • Date of the examination
  • Personal Details of the candidate
  • Photograph of the candidate
  • Signature of the candidate

JIPMER Examination would be held on June 3, 2018, and the Registration would begin from March 7, 2018.

Candidates would be able to check important details mentioned as follows:

  • The Admit card would be available in the online mode.
  • JIPMER Admit card would mention exam time, exam venue, timings of Examination. It shall also contain details as mentioned by the candidate that would be mentioned on the Application Form.

The candidate should cover all these subjects thoroughly. They can study from NCERT guide or they can refer to an online guide. Most of the private institutions will conduct entrance test preparation course. The candidate can also join this course and prepare for the exam. The entrance examination would be conducted in an online mode- Computer-based mode.

Previous Paper Analysis

  • JIPMER MBBS 2017 was conducted in a Computer-Based mode.
  • There were 200 multiple choice questions in the exam.

JIPMER and AIIMS are the institutes which would not fall under NEET. They are regulated by Central Legislation. The institute has the independence to conduct its own exam.The result was announced on 13 June 2016. JIPMER 2019 Result

The result can be checked on the official website of JIPMER. Results would be out in the third week of June. A merit list is usually prepared on the basis of percentile achieved by the candidates. Merit list would be prepared separately for different categories.

JIPMER MBBS result is usually published after the exam. The result of the exam is shows marks, percentile and also ranks in merit list. Only test takers who manage to get marks that equal cutoff or more than the threshold get a position in JIPMER merit list.

You would get admitted in JIPMER Puducherry or Karaikal on the basis of medical entrance examination subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria.

The JIPMER MBBS result would be declared on or before June 20, 2018.

Normalization is the process for ensuring students are neither in an advantageous or disadvantageous position by the difficulty of entrance exams which is conducted in 2 shifts.

Candidates would get arranged in order of percentile score for the afternoon and morning shift to arrive at the overall merit list.

In the case of a tie, the order of deciding merit would be:

  1. Biology percentile
  2. Chemistry percentile
  3. Physics percentile
  4. English percentile
  5. Logic and QR
  6. Elder

The minimum marks a candidate is required to be on the merit list is 50th percentile for UR, OCI, NRI; 45th percentile UR OPH; 40th percentile for SC, ST, OBC, OPH.

JIPMER Cut-Offs

The least marks that a candidate is required to score for which admission would be given is known as JIPMER MBBS cutoff. The JIPMER Cutoff may vary on a year to year basis depending on the performance of the candidates in the JIPMER Entrance examination. The JIPMER MBBS cutoff is detailed as follows:

Candidates shortlisted for MBBS Admission provisionally would be published by Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research. This is the minimum marks against which the seats of the candidates are filled every year. The JIPMER Cutoff shall stand published once the JIPMER Result is published. 

For an unreserved category, the candidate should score more than 160 marks in JIPMER MBBS Examination. For an OBC Candidate, more than 153 marks should help them get admission.

There is always an increase in the level of competition, the candidates are advised that they must keep their target at least ten to fifteen marks more than the cutoff. 

JIPMER 2019 Counseling Details

JIPMER 2018: Counselling Starts from June 26

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry has released the JIPMER Counselling 2018 Schedule. JIPMER, Puducherry Campus will conduct the first round of Counselling from June 26, 2018, to June 28, 2018.   1. Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education Research will conduct JIPMER MBBS 2018 Counselling tentatively in the second week of July. The Counselling schedule of JIPMER 2018 will provide an overview of the entire counseling procedure for candidates who will be participating in a counseling session. 
  2. The qualifying candidates who need to attend the JIPMER MBBS 2018 Counselling Schedule will have to undergo the biometric fingerprint and image verifications. In case any mismatch is found, the candidate will not be permitted to attend the counseling. The candidates shall be called in for JIPMER MBBS Counselling 2018 based on JIPMER MBBS 2018 Merit List.
  3. All the candidates will be considered for selection for the unreserved category seats based on the merit acquired by them. Once all the unreserved category seats are filled in, the remaining reserved category seats, including OBC, SC, ST, Puducherry UR, Puducherry OBC and Puducherry SC shall be filled up by the candidates on the basis of their merit and eligibility as mentioned in the prospectus.

All the candidates would be usually considered for unreserved category seats.  Once the unreserved category seats get filled on the merit basis, the remaining seats would get filled under reserved categories.  After this notification, counseling session to get admitted to JIPMER Puducherry or Karaikal would be held.

The students are required to check the merit list uploaded on the website as individual letters notifying them would not be despatched by the exam authority. There are required to be present at the venue for counseling. Post biometric authentication, they also need to produce original copies of mark sheets such as age proof, certificate of transfer, character certificate etc to ensure admission gets finalized.

Documents required for counseling are as follows:

  • Pass certificate of the qualifying exam
  • Statement of marks of the qualifying exam
  • Age certificate showing date of birth
  • Character and conduct certificate
  • Residence certificate issued by the revenue authority
  • In the case of OBC/Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe,  a community certificate obtained from the competent authority.
  • OBC Candidates should produce a required certificate as per the format is given in the Annexure along with three-year income tax returns.
  • Certificate of transfer
  • The residence certificate in case of being a resident in Puducherry
  • OPH candidate should produce a medical certificate.
  • Six copies of passport size photo
  • Original hall ticket issued by the Institute
  • One set of attested photocopies of all original certificates

  7. Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates should produce the required certificate as per the format in the Annexure along with last three years Income Tax returns of the parents
