The National Testing Agency conducted NEET 2023 on May 7 this year. Now that the NEET Exam is successfully concluded, students from all over the country have become eager to know NEET Passing Marks for 2024. Candidates who qualify the exam will be shortlisted for admission to various undergraduate medical courses MBBS/ BDS/ AYUSH offered by the Top Medical Colleges in India. Students will be shortlisted based on their performance and marks obtained by them in the exam. This article is to differentiate amongst several marking concepts of NEET 2024 Marking such as NEET Qualifying Marks, NEET Passing Marks, and NEET Cutoff Marks. As per the previous year's cutoff, the passing marks of NEET 2024 fell between 720 and 138 for students hailing from the General category and 137 and 108 for students belonging to the category SC/ST/OBC. NEET Qualifying Marks are the marks that students must obtain in order to be eligible for NEET Counselling Process. Students often confuse the NEET Percentile with NEET Qualifying Marks. Here is where students can get to know the difference between them. NEET Qualifying Marks is the 50th Percentile which means a candidate taking the exam must score higher than at least 50% of the total students taking the NEET Exam. The qualifying marks of NEET Exam are expected to vary every year and it generally ranges between 150 and 200 marks. Nonetheless, candidates appearing in the exam must be aware of the fact that any score in this range is not good enough to secure a seat in any good medical college.
NEET Cutoff is the marks that determine the allocation of your seat in a medical college. It is the minimum qualifying percentile that NEET Aspirant must score in order to become eligible for admission to medical colleges. It is imperative for candidates to secure marks above the NEET Cutoff to be eligible for the NEET Counselling Procedure. It will also help students get a seat in good medical college. However, the cutoff change every year and it totally depends on various factors. Some of the factors are mentioned below:
NTA will release NEET 2024 Cutoff after the declaration of NEET 2024 Result. The cutoff varies depending on the category of candidates. Although the passing marks of NEET Exam this year are expected to be released soon. Out of the total medical seats (government), 15% seats are reserved for students under the All India Quota. Students who qualify the NEET 2024 Cutoff for Government Colleges.
The remaining 85% of the government medical seats are reserved for students from the respective state. The admission process of these colleges is carried out by the state authorities.

Qualifying marks for NEET Exam - There is a misconception of NEET Qualifying Marks to be 50% while the actual qualifying marks for NEET Exam is 50th Percentile and not 50%. There is a difference between NEET Percentile and NEET Percentage.
Candidates belonging to the General category must secure at least 50% marks as NEET Qualifying marks 2024 to be eligible for an MBBS Seat.
Pass Mark for NEET, for General category is 720-138, for SC/ST/OBC category is 137-108, for the General PwD category is 137-122, and for SC/ST/OBC- PwD is 121-108. The Pass Mark for NEET 2023 were relatively lower as per the NEET 2023 Cutoff.
