About SSP Scholarship 2024

The Government of Karnataka has started the State Scholarship Portal (SSP) to ease the distribution of scholarships provided by various departments. Its main aim is to ensure the smooth and efficient disbursement of funds to eligible students. The portal enhances transparency in the application process and document submission. Moreover, scholarship funds from different departments are transferred directly to beneficiaries' accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Key departments hosting their scholarships on the SSP include:

Eligibility Criteria for SSP Scholarship 2024

To qualify for any scholarship listed on the SSP scholarship portal, applicants must first meet the primary requirement of being a legal resident of Karnataka. Additionally, specific criteria must be fulfilled depending on the scholarship type. Here are the detailed eligibility conditions:

Post-matric Scholarship for SC Students

  • Residency: Applicants must be residents of Karnataka.
  • Academic Performance: A minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grades in the latest final examination is required.
  • Family Income: The annual income of the student's family should not exceed INR 2.5 lakh.

Post-matric Scholarship for ST Students

  • Residency: Applicants must be residents of Karnataka.
  • Academic Performance: A minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grades in the latest final examination is required.
  • Family Income: The annual income of the student's family should not exceed INR 2.5 lakh.

Vidyasiri Scholarship

  • Residency: Applicants must be residents of Karnataka and belong to either the SC/ST or minority community.
  • Attendance: A minimum attendance of 75% throughout the academic year is mandatory.
  • Family Income: For SC/ST candidates, the annual family income should not exceed INR 2 lakh, and for OBC candidates, it should not exceed INR 1 lakh.

Post-matric Scholarship for Backward Classes Students

  • Residency: Applicants must be residents of Karnataka and belong to the Backward Classes category.
  • Educational Level: Pursuing studies at the post-matriculation level is required.
  • Academic Performance: A minimum of 50% marks (for category 1) and 60% marks (for categories 2A, 3A, and 3B) in the previous examination is necessary.
  • Family Income: The annual family income should not exceed INR 2.5 lakh.

Fee Reimbursement for Backward Classes Students

  • Residency: Applicants must be residents of Karnataka.
  • Academic Performance: A minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grades in the latest final examination is required.
  • Family Income: The annual income of the student's family should not exceed INR 2 lakh.

Post-Matric Scholarship for Minorities

  • Domicile: Applicants must possess a domicile in Karnataka.
  • Educational Level: Enrollment in Class 11, 12, graduate, postgraduate, technical or vocational courses, M.Phil., or PhD is required.
  • Academic Performance: A minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grades in the previous final examination is necessary.
  • Family Income: The annual income should not exceed INR 2.5 lakh from all sources.
  • Minority Community: Applicants must identify with minority communities like Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain, and Zoroastrian/Parsi.

Merit cum Means Scholarship

  • Domicile: Applicants must have a domicile in Karnataka.
  • Educational Level: Should be in Class 9.
  • Academic Performance: A minimum of 55% or equivalent marks in Class 8 is required (with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST students).
  • Family Income: The family's income must be less than INR 2.5 lakhs from all sources.

Fee Reimbursement for Engineering and Diploma Engineering SC/ST Students

  • Domicile: Applicants should have a domicile in Karnataka.
  • Family Income: The annual family income should fall between INR 2.5 lakh and 10 lakhs.
  • Defence Scholarship: Specifically available for ST/SC students whose parents are serving in the Army, Navy, or Air Force, or working as JCO/NCO/lower rank personnel.

Fee Reimbursement for SC/ST Medical Students

  • Domicile: Applicants should have a domicile in Karnataka.
  • Family Income: The annual family income should fall between INR 2.5 lakh to 10 lakhs.

Post-matric Scholarship for Karnataka State Brahmin

  • Residency: Applicants must be residents of Karnataka and come from a Brahmin community.
  • Family Income: The annual income of the student's family should not exceed INR 8 lakh.
  • Academic Performance: A minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grades in the latest final examination is required.

Documents Required for SSP Scholarship 2024

The students willing to apply should keep in mind that the documents mentioned below are very crucial. If students don’t have the required documents, their application will be rejected. So, it is highly recommended to keep all the documents ready beforehand:  

  • Students SATs ID/ College
  • Registration Number
  • Student’s Mobile Number
  • Income Certificate
  • Caste Certificate
  • e-Attestation Numbers
  • Aadhaar Number of Student and Parents
  • Eligible Fee Receipt
  • Bonafide Certificate
  • SSLC/ 10th Marks Card
  • PUC Registration Number (first-year degree courses)
  • Marks Card of the previous year
  • Study Certificate
  • Disability Card Number issued by GOI for differently abled students.
  • EWS Certificate (Applicable for only Brahmin category students) number in the student’s name, starting with RD.

SSP Scholarship 2024: How to Apply?

Applications for all types of SSP scholarships can be made online through the SSP portal only. Applicants can follow the steps given below to apply for any of the scholarships mentioned above:

Step 1- Creating an Account

  1. Begin by visiting the official website of the State Scholarship Portal.
  2. Locate and click on the designated link to apply for the "Post-Matric Scholarship for the Financial Year 2022-23."
  3. Proceed to click on the "Create Account" option.
  4. Complete the required fields, acknowledge consent, and then click on the "Proceed" button.
  5. Following this, link your Aadhaar with your bank account. Next, input your email ID, mobile number, OTP, and then click "Submit."
  6. Enter the certificate details and click "Proceed."
  7. If you possess a ration card, select "Yes" and input the ration card number; otherwise, you must apply for a ration card to continue.
  8. After entering the ration card number, a list of family members will be displayed. Choose the applicant's name from the list and click "Check" to proceed.
  9. Finally, create a password and click "Submit" to complete the process.

Step 2- Student Login:

  1. Start by visiting the official website of the SSP scholarship.
  2. Locate and click on the "Student Login" button displayed on the dashboard.
  3. Provide your username, password, and captcha to log in securely.
  4. Upon successful login, proceed to fill out the scholarship application form, ensuring all necessary details are accurately provided.
  5. Attach all required documents as required, then submit your completed application.

Step 3: Online Attestation of Documents

Applicants on the SSP scholarship portal must have their documents electronically attested by their college's e-Attestation officer to proceed with their application. The following steps outline the process for applicants:

  1. Visit the official SSP scholarship website and navigate to the homepage.
  2. Look for and select the option "Click here for e-authentication portal (Students)" to continue.
  3. A new window will open, prompting candidates to enter their Aadhaar number, captcha, and consent by ticking the appropriate box.
  4. Click on the "Verify" button to proceed with the verification process.
  5. Upon successful verification, candidates will be directed to their student profile page.
  6. Fill in the necessary information, such as college name, university name, course, etc., and proceed to upload the required documents.
  7. Access the "Aadhar Consent" form, complete it, and download it for further processing.
  8. Visit the e-Attestation officer at your college to have the form and original documents attested.
  9. Once the officer completes the e-Attestation process, the documents will appear in the "Approved Documents" section for verification.
