WHat is GMAT Exam?

The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) administers the GMAT 2023, which stands for Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). It is a national level examination aimed at admitting qualified candidates to MBA programs offered by various institutions in India as well as foreign universities.

Why Should You Take GMAT Exam?

The GMAT Exam is the most widely accepted exam for MBA admissions around the world. No other exam has as broad acceptance as the GMAT; according to the GMAC, 9 out of every 10 MBA enrollments are made using the GMAT score. Furthermore, over 2,300 schools accept GMAT scores for admission. In addition, the GMAT Exam is administered at 650 testing centers in 114 countries.

Steps to Register for the GMAT Exam

Registration for the GMAT exam is open throughout the year. As a result, you can choose a date that is convenient for you and take the exam at any time of year. A step-by-step guide to registering for the GMAT is provided below.

Make an Account 

  • Create an account on mba.com, the GMAT's official website.
  •  You can do so by clicking the sign-up button in the top right corner of the page. 
  • When you click on it, you will be redirected to a new page where you must enter your basic information such as your name, email address, and so on. 

Start the Registration Process

  • Once you've created an account, you can begin the registration process. 
  • To do so, go to the top left of the page and click on the exams button. When you click on it, you will be taken to a new page. 
  • You must enter all of your personal information here, including your phone number, address, country of residence, and so on.

Fill in the Optional Information

  •  After entering all of your personal information, you must enter academic grades, work experience, and so on. However, you can choose to skip this step.

Verify Your Profile 

  • Once you have completed all of the above information, your registration request will be sent to GMAC's account processing team. Within two business days, your registration request will be processed.

Choose a Date and Time for Your Exam

  • Once your request has been verified, you can schedule an exam slot. You can choose up to three test centers in your preferred location. You can also select a date and time that works best for you. If a test center is unavailable due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you can take the GMAT online from the comfort of your own home.

Pay the Registration Fees

  • Finish the registration process by paying a fee of $250 (approximately INR 18,300).

GMAT Fees in India

In India, the exam registration fee is approximately INR 20,000. However, there are additional costs in addition to the registration fees. The total cost that you may have to incur is broken down below.

Five Score Reports

Any business school will not accept your self-reported GMAT score if you apply. You must request that GMAC send your GMAT score report to you. If you take the test at a testing center, you can select up to five programs to which your results will be sent. The USD 275 GMAT exam fee includes these five score reports. If you want to send additional score reports later, you can do so for US $35 per report. 

GMAT Cancellation Fee

  • If you cancel the exam between 1 and 14 days before the test date, you will be charged $220 and will receive a refund of $55.
  •  If you cancel the exam between 15 and 60 days before the appointment, you will be charged $195 and will receive a refund of $80. I
  • If you cancel the test more than 60 days before the appointment, you will be charged $165 and will receive a refund of $110. 
  • Furthermore, the test appointment cannot be changed or cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled test time.

GMAT Rescheduling Fee

  • A candidate must pay US$165 if they reschedule the exam 1 to 14 days before the test date. 
  • In addition, if you reschedule the exam 15 to 60 days before the appointment, you must pay US$110. 
  • You must pay US$55 if you reschedule the exam more than 60 days before the test date.

GMAT Fee for Additional score report and Enhanced Score Reports

Following the GMAT exam at the testing center, you can order additional score reports for US$ 35 per report. The Enhanced Score Report is available for $30 USD. This enhanced score report analyzes your performance in detail and can help you understand your accuracy in different question categories, strong and weak areas, and pacing. ESR is not an option if you take the GMAT online.

GMAT Fee Payment Mode

  • Online registration is the preferred method for scheduling a GMAT appointment.
  •  You can pay with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or JCB) or a debit card that allows international transactions (Visa or MasterCard only). 

However, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • If any of your cards are declined, your appointment will be automatically canceled, and you will be required to book another slot with a valid payment mode.
  • If you use a fraudulent card, your registration will be cancelled, as will any previous GMAT scores you may have. GMAC will notify the appropriate authorities at the business school.

Fee waivers are granted by some colleges and universities based on criteria such as academic performance, financial situation, and so on. To be eligible for the fee waiver, you must submit a request to the admission committee of the business schools to which you are applying. This can be accomplished through the college's website or by contacting them directly. However, admission policies are subject to change.
