VISA INFORMATION

Following documents will be required for the application purposes:

  • Valid passport – Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your period of stay in New Zealand
  • Completed Student Visa Application Form (INZ 1012)
  • Application fee payment receipt, as you are required to pay Rs 11,100 before your interview
  • Offer of place – You need to have an offer of place from a New Zealand institute/university. The forms are usually issued after the tuition fees have been received
  • Letter from your current institution confirming status as a study abroad student
  • Health insurance receipt
  • You may be required to show Health and Character certificates, to prove that your intention of staying in New Zealand is genuine
  • Two passport sized photographs

Additional documentation may be required.

During the personal interview, additional documents may be requested by the interviewer.

  • These may be documents to prove evidence of academic or financial status.
  • Transcripts, diplomas, degrees, or certificates from schools you attended
  • Scores from tests that your college required, such as TOEFL, GRE, or GMAT
  • How you will pay all educational, living and travel costs

Types of Scholarships

Some of the scholarships provided by the government/ oragnisations for international students in New Zealand include: 

Commonwealth scholarship :

It is offered by Official Development Assistance (ODA) programme of New Zealand government for students of developing nations to pursue master or doctoral level studies.  The scholarships are offered for full time courses.

In India, the nominating agencies are Director General of Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Deputy Educational Adviser of Ministry of Human Resource Development. Commonwealth scholarship awardees can study in University of Canterbury, Victoria University of Wellington, University of Waikato, Massey University, Auckland University of Technology, University of Otago and Lincoln University.


BayerBoost Environmental Scholarship Scheme:

BayerBoost Environmental Scholarship is offered by a research based global company, BayerBoost to support global environmental projects and increase environmental awareness among the students.

The scholarship of $3,000 to 6,000 is given to students seeking admission in undergraduate environmental studies programme. For BayerBoost Environmental Scholarship, students are required to contact a host organisation for establishment of project.The host organisations for the project are Lincoln University, Plant and Food Research, Massey University, University of Canterbury, etc. The host organisations are responsible for insurance, health, safety and taxation requirements of the students.

New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarships (NZIDRS):

New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarship (NZIDRS) is offered by New Zealand government for international students seeking admission in full time doctoral degree course. NZIDRS is administered by the Education New Zealand Trust. The scholarship issued for 3 years, covers tuition fee, travel allowance, annual health insurance, monthly living allowance, book and thesis allowance and one-off establishment allowance.

Climate: New Zealand largely has a temperate climate, it is in the southern hemisphere so January and February are the warmest months. The average New Zealand temperature decreases as you travel south.  The average maximum temperature ranges between 20 and 30 degrees C and in winter 10-15 degrees C.
