ATMA is annual exam considered as one of the universally reliable examinations conducted in a single window for shortlisting candidates in postgraduate courses MBA, PGDM, MCA, MMS and similar other MBA management courses being offered by the associated colleges of AIMS (Association of Indian Management School). The examination is considered as one of the high quality nationally accepted entrance examination conducted online in objective type questions. ATMA is conducted in all major cities of the states of India and is All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and Ministry of Human Resource and Development.

The Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) is the conducting body of the examination and was established as a registered society in the year 1988. AIMS since its establishment has made its way to become a strong network consisting of 740 top Business School having national and international recognition. These colleges include IIM's, Xavier Institutes, ISB, ICFAI, MDI, Welingkar and many more. The organization works as non-profit professional organization in the field of education.

To appear for ATMA 2018 candidate must fulfil ATMA Eligibility Criteria of having a minimum of 50% marks in graduation degree and the institution granting the degree must be recognized by University Grant Commission (UGC). Candidate qualified CA are also eligible. ATMA Application Procedure is entirely online and aspirants fulfilling the eligibility criteria need to visit the official website to complete the application process.  ATMA Syllabus is designed to test the Analytical, Reasoning, Verbal and Quantitative skills of the candidates. The entire question paper is divided into 6 Sections and candidate will have 3 hours to complete the 180 MCQ questions as mentioned in ATMA Exam Pattern.

Candidates who are successfully registered for the examination will be able to download ATMA Admit card from the official website, which will mention the examination centre and time of the examination. ATMA Result is usually declared by end of the year and counselling process starts from the next year. 

ATMA 2018 Important Dates

ATMA December 2018 is scheduled to be conducted on December 23, 2018, which will a computer-based examination having 180 objective types of question. The process of examination starts with ATMA Application process which is also entirely online and candidate needs to visit the official website for the same. Candidate needs to make the payment of Application fee online before December 15, 2018, as the window for Registration closing on December 17, 2018. ATMA December 2018 admit card will be released from December 20, 2018.

ATMA 2018 Eligibility

ATMA 2018 Eligibility Criteria as mandated by Govt. of India and followed by Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) remained same for a long time and expected that the parameters for ATMA 2019 Eligibility Criteria will also be same. The National level entrance examination which opens doors for admission in MBA courses of Top management colleges of India. The Eligibility criteria for colleges accepting ATMA 2018 score may vary depending upon the course requirement and candidates are advised to check for the eligibility criteria of individual colleges to appear for ATMA 2018 December and ATMA 2019.

ATMA 2018 Application Procedure

Schedule for ATMA 2018 December examination has been released by Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) and the exam has been scheduled to be conducted on December 23, 2018, and the Registration process for the same has already been started. The window for ATMA 2018 December Registration process has already been started from October 13, 2018, and the last date to apply is December 17, 2018. The application process is entirely online and candidate needs to fill the application for by visiting the official website. The candidate who fulfils the Eligibility Criteria of ATMA 2019 are eligible to register for the examination as per the guidelines of AIMS, aspirants must be an Indian citizen with a graduate degree. The payment of Application fee can also be done only by online payment method using credit and debit card. Candidate needs to use a valid active mobile number and email id for registration process as well as making the payment. The notifications and any changes regarding the exam will be notified to candidates over email and candidate are suggested to keep track of the same and also to check the spam folder to be safe.

Steps to fill ATMA 2019 Application Form:

The Application process of ATMA 2019 can be divided into a total of 3 steps as mentioned below

  • Step 1: Payment of Application Fee
  • Step 2: Request for Personal Identification Number (PID)
  • Step 3: Fill the application form

Application Fees

Registration Process of ATMA 2018 has already been started and candidate can apply before December 17, 2018 for ATMA 2018 December. The registration process of ATMA 2019 will start soon, the 1st window will be opened for ATMA February 2019 exam followed by registration and exam of ATMA May 2019 Exam, ATMA June 2019 Exam and ATMA July 2019. Official notifications regarding the same will be released soon on the official website and candidate who are not opting for the December examination may appear in the next. Candidates who on the other hand are already appearing for ATMA 2018 December examination can also reappear for the upcoming examinations.

ATMA Registration Fee as set by AIMs is Rs. 1298 which is including all taxes and GST. The application fee is must pay for completion of the application procedure. AIMS has also highlighted few guidelines regarding concession of application fee in certain categories like candidates from northeast state gets the concession of 50 per cent on the application fee. For female candidates, there is a rebate of 25 per cent in the registration fee.

Fees Payment

There are two modes of payments for fees:

  • Online mode
  • Offline mode

The candidates who are opting for the online mode to apply are required to pay the requisite fee online only, either through NEFT or Net Banking.

The candidates opting for the offline mode will have to pay the application fee via cash or DD.

The ATMA Application Fee is non-refundable and candidates must make sure that they pay the application fees within the prescribed time duration.

The Application Fee amount is Rs. 1100/- (for all categories)

ATMA 2018 Admit Card

For ATMA 2018 December, AIMS will release the admit card by December 20 and candidate needs to visit the official website to download the Admit Card. For candidates who have successfully completed the ATMA registration process are only be able to download the admit card online. Candidate should note that the ATMA admit card can only be downloaded online and will not be sent by post to each individual.

Steps to Download the Admit Card:

  • Candidate appearing for the upcoming ATMA 2018 December Examination or ATMA 2019 Examination admit card can be downloaded following the below mentioned steps
  • Candidate needs to visit the official website and click on the link of Admit Card.
  • In the next step, the candidate needs to enter the required details as the PID and Password set at the time of registration.
  • After completion of the login, page candidate can be able to login directly to the ATMA Admit Card page.
  • The admit card will have a “Print option” on the right corner of the page which candidate needs to click the same to download the admit card.
  • The candidate also needs to take a print out of the admit card on an A4 size paper and the same will be taken to the Examination hall because in absence of the same candidate will not be allowed to appear for the examination.

ATMA 2018 Exam Pattern

ATMA Entrance Examination will be conducted for a duration of 3 hours. Candidates need to solve in all 180 questions divided in 6 sections. Each section comprises of 30 questions covering the different topics. It is multiple choice question paper, in which for each correct answer 1 mark and 1/3 mark is deducted for incorrect one. The exam pattern is as follows:

ATMA 2018 Syllabus

ATMA 2018 December and ATMA 2019 exam will consist of three main topics, divided into six sections.

Candidates will have to attempt 180 questions in 180 minutes.

Sections of ATMA exam paper

Analytical Reasoning Skills: 

This section of the paper analyses the logical thinking of candidates. Aspirants must make sure that they strengthen their capability of analyzing situations, only then will they be able to select the correct answer. Having the correct approach and right frame of mind will help a candidate extensively in finding the answer to the questions.

Quantitative Skills:

Candidates will have to practice on a regular basis in order to excel in this skill. Questions related to probability, percentages, time and work, permutation and combination, coordinate geometry, average, profit and loss, mensuration, ratio and proportion variations, interest, geometry, inequalities, time speed and distance, progression, logarithm, set theory, quadratic equation, and functions are frequently asked in ATMA exam.

Verbal skills: 

This is a section which evaluates the English skills of a candidate. Candidates, an expect questions based on sentence completion, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and sentence correction, to name but a few. 

ATMA 2017 Question Paper Analysis


ANALYTICAL REASONING:  It comprised of data sufficiency, Input-output, circular arrangement, statements & conclusions, deductions, cause & effect etc. topics in the exam. The questions on deduction were also very tough this year. There were many cause and effect type questions here.

VERBAL SKILLS: This section was majorly easy. Para completion questions were tricky. The majority of the questions were in the form of comprehension passages. Idioms, synonyms, fill in the blanks were also important questions.

QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE: They were simple and straightforward questions. There were many pie chart interpretation questions which were easy and carried heavy weightage. Percentage, equations, and numbers also formed a major chunk of this section.

  • The syllabus remains the same as other premier MBA entrance exams in the country.The candidate can use the same guide and books as used for the preparation of CAT, SNAP etc.

  • RS Agarwal Quantitative Aptitude
  • Practicing SNAP / IIFT / XAT / TISS / CMAT / NMAT / IRMA / MAT previous yearbooks would also be beneficial.

ATMA 2018 Result

ATMA Scores will have to be downloaded from by using the login id and password sent to the email of the candidate. No hard copy will be issued unless otherwise specifically requested for.

ATMA Cut-Offs

There is no official cut-off for the ATMA exam.The candidates have to check the official website of the participating institutes and apply to the institutes they wish to participate in .The shortlisted students will have to follow the selection procedure of the participating institutes.

ATMA 2018 Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure for ATMA 2018 December and ATMA 2019 will be the same until no new notification regarding the same is released by AIMS. Candidates will be selected on basis of marks scored in the examination of ATMA. The list will be released post the release of ATMA Result scheduled to be published in December 2018. The entire selection procedure of ATMA 2018 can be divided into 3 steps for shortlisting the top performing candidates. All the participating institutions of AIMS will conduct the selection procedure soon after the declaration of result. ATMA is accepted by both AICTE and the Ministry of HRD and conducted multiple times in a year for selecting students to be enrolled in PGDM, MBA, MCM and other postgraduate management courses offered by top management colleges of India including IIMs and Xavier's.

Important Note:

  1. The admit card will have complete details of the allotted exam centre
  2. Candidates should make sure to carry the admit card to the exam hall.
  3. It is also advised to not bring any valuable items, a piece of paper, mobile phones, electronic devices with a radio transmitter, etc. inside the exam hall.

Score Evaluation

For each correct or best answer, you will get a score of one.

For any question not answered, a zero score will be given. A negative score will be given for a wrong or incorrect answer. For each incorrect answer, 0.25 point will be deducted.

Thus, for four incorrectly answered questions, one mark will be subtracted from the total score.

ATMA score report for each candidate will contain scores for the different sections -quantitative, verbal, analytical and total. These scores are based on raw scores of each candidate and are statistically scaled with reference to the entire Test population.

In addition to the scaled scores, the Score Report will also contain percentage below the data. These percentiles indicate the percentage of candidates in the entire ATMA Testing population, who have scored below the candidate in that category. that is the percentile is also mentioned. Thus, the percentile score ranks an applicant to a management program, in relation to other applicants, who have taken the Test.
