National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is an all India level examination conducted by NCERT that serves as a scholarship for students. National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is an all India level examination conducted by NCERT that serves as a scholarship for students. Students studying in Class X are eligible to appear for the exam.The scholarships under the present scheme are awarded to the candidates for pursuing courses in sciences and social sciences up to doctoral level and in professional courses like medicine and engineering up to second-degree level. 

NTSE Examination is conducted in two stages:

Stage 1: This is a State Level Examination that is conducted by different States and Union Territories. Students who qualify Stage 1 would be eligible to appear for Stage 2 Examination. 

Stage 2: NTSE is national level examination conducted by National Council of Educational Research and Training. (NCERT).

NTSE Stage 1 Examination was conducted on 4th and 5th November 2017. Stage 2 Examination would be conducted on May 13, 2018. Students of Grade 10 looking for a scholarship program would be able to apply for NTSE 2018. The last date to submit NTSE Phase 2 Application Form would be 31 December 2017.

Students of Grade 10 looking for a scholarship would be able to apply for NTSE 2018. The Last date to submit NTSE Application Form Phase 2 is 31st December 2017. Closing Dates of NTSE Phase 1 Application Forms are notified separately by various States and Union Territories. 

NTSE Scholarships

About 1000 scholarships are awarded for every stage of education. The Stages are:

  1. For Grade 11 and 12, a scholarship of INR 1250 is provided.
  2. For Undergraduates and Postgraduates, a scholarship of INR 2000 per month would be provided. 
  3. For Ph.D, the scholarship amount would be fixed as per norms of UGC.

NTSE Reservation is as follows:

  1. 7.5% for students belonging to ST Category.
  2. 3% for Physically Challenged students.

NTSE Qualifying marks for examination

  1. 40% marks in every paper for General Category students.
  2. 32% marks in each paper for SC, ST and PH Category students. 

NTSE Eligibility Criteria is as follows:

  1. Only Grade 10 students are eligible to apply for appearing in the NTSE Examination provided the students studies in a school that is provided by the Government. 
  2. The student should be below 18 years of age. 
  3. Previously employed students would not be eligible for NTSE Examination. 
  4. The Student has never applied to Grade 10 before.
  5. Open Distance Learning Students would also be eligible.

NTSE 2017 Important Dates

The NTSE Examination is conducted by the NCERT which has announced important dates for NTSE 2018 for students who wish to appear in the national level scholarship scheme.  The NTSE 2018 Relevant Date details help the candidate to take note of relevant events pertaining to the NTSE 2018 Schedule that is related to the grants. 

The NTSE Scholarship Scheme was notified on July 31, 2017. The Application Process for NTSE began in the month of August 2017.

NTSE Examination was scheduled to be held on 4th November 2017, for Stage 1 Examination in Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and 5th November 2017 for other States and Union Territories for Stage 1 Examination. Whereas for Stage 2 Examination, that would be held on 13th May 2018, across all the States and Union Territories.

NTSE 2017 Eligibility

The NTSE Examination is held in Stage 1 and Stage 2. The NTSE Stage 1 Examination is conducted by a lot of States and Union Territories. Candidates who clear Stage 1 examination would be writing the Stage 2 Examination. The NTSE Stage 1 Examination was conducted on November 4 and 5, 2017. The candidates who clear the NTSE Stage 1 and Stage 2 examination would become eligible for scholarship. 

The NTSE Examination Stage 1 Eligibility Criteria is as follows:

  • A candidate must be an Indian to be eligible to appear for the test.
  • Only Grade 10 students would be able to appear for the test.
  • The candidates must have acquired 60% marks in Grade 9 in the session last year. 
  • The aspirants should be studying in a recognized school.
  • 5% Mark relaxation has been provided to candidates belonging to reserved categories, they would need to have only 55% in Grade 9.
  • Candidates pursuing Grade 10 from Open Distance Learning also become eligible for NTSE Examination.

NTSE 2017 Application Procedure

NTSE 2018 Application Form was released in September. Candidates can register in either on the online or offline mode. Application form will be disseminated independently by various states. Last date of application additionally fluctuates from state to state.

NTSE 2018 phase 1, was conducted on November 04 and 05, 2017.

NTSE 2017 Syllabus

NTSE 2016 Question Paper Analysis

NTSE Test was of english medium and other regional languages.
