The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) is planning to reinstate one-year B.Ed. course and M.Ed. programs, after a decade of the decision to keep it two years. This is a part of new draft regulations which will give qualified students' teaching careers on a fast-track. This goes into effect in 2026–2027. The eligibility criteria for 1 Year B.Ed. course in India is that the candidate must me a graduate (bachelor's degree) from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks.
B.Ed Full Form is Bachelor of Education which is a 2 year course. B.Ed course prepares the students for a career in the education sector. The authority that regulates this course in India is the NCT.
B.Ed Course: An Overview
The B.Ed course duration is structured over a period of 2-year course. B.Ed. course main aim is to equip the candidate with the knowledge to become teachers at the middle-class (VI-VII), secondary (IX-X), and senior secondary (XI-XII) levels. The B.Ed curriculum is built around a number of teaching-related subjects, such as communication skills, pedagogical knowledge, and human development.
