NIFT Entrance Exam 2023: Eligibility Criteria

Age Requirements:

For undergraduate courses, the maximum age of the applicant must be 24 years old, whereas there is no age limit for postgraduate programs. Additionally, applicants from the SC/ST category will receive a 5-year age relaxation.

Education qualifications:

  • To be eligible for the B.F.Tech (Apparel Production) program, candidates must have completed their 12th grade with honors in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognized board or institution.
  • For the B.Des program, the applicant must have a 10+2 diploma from a recognized university or board.
  • To apply for the M.F.Tech program, candidates must hold a B.F.Tech degree from NIFT or a B.Tech/B.E. degree from a recognized institution or university.

NIFT Registration Form 2023

The online registration for NIFT 2023 began on November 1, 2022, by the National Institute of Fashion Technology. Candidates had until December 31, 2022 to submit their applications with regular fees, and until January 8, 2023 to submit their applications with an additional late fee of INR 5,000.

NIFT Entrance Exam 2023: Exam Pattern

  • The NIFT Entrance Examination 2023 will consist of three stages: the General Ability Test (GAT), the Creativity Ability Test (CAT) and the Situation Test and Personal Interview. 
  • The GAT is a written test that is mandatory for all five courses, while the CAT is only required for certain programs. 
  • Candidates who pass the GAT will be eligible to take the CAT. The GAT will only be relevant for Bachelor in Fashion Technology, Master in Fashion Technology and Master of Fashion Management courses. 
  • There is no negative marking in the NIFT entrance examination.

NIFT Entrance Exam Syllabus 2023

The NIFT 2023 exam will include topics that candidates must prepare for in order to succeed on the test. Communication Ability and English Comprehension

This sub-test aims to assess the candidate's proficiency in the English language in everyday communication. It covers topics such as synonyms, antonyms, word meanings, singular and plural forms, one-word substitutes, idioms and phrases, proper spelling, and the ability to comprehend a passage.

Analytical Ability and Logical Ability

This sub-test evaluates the candidate's ability to infer and reason logically from given information. It aims to assess the candidate's capacity to identify problems, and apply reasoning to solve them. It tests concepts and practices of creative and lateral thinking, which are deemed useful.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs

This sub-test aims to evaluate the candidate's general knowledge and understanding of current events and happenings. It tests the candidate's understanding of the world and their ability to keep up with current affairs and general knowledge.

Case Study

This sub-test is based on a simulated industry scenario, and it assesses the candidate's managerial skills. The test aims to evaluate the candidate's ability to handle and make decisions in an industrial setting and to measure their management skills and understanding of industry-related issues.

NIFT Syllabus 2023: Creativity Ability Test

The Creative Ability Test (CAT) is a mandatory test for applicants of the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Master of Design (M.Des) programs. NIFT Entrance Exam 2023: Answer Key

The NIFT 2023 answer key will be made available online tentatively in the third week of February 2023. Candidates can access the answer key by logging in with their Email ID and Password. NIFT Entrance Exam 2023: Cutoff

The NIFT 2023 cutoff for the B.FTech and B.Des programs will be published in online mode on the official website, nift.ac.in, by the end of May or June. NIFT Counselling 2023

The registration for NIFT 2023 counselling will tentatively begin in the third week of May 2023 in an online format. The counselling will be conducted in five rounds, and only eligible candidates will be able to participate as per the schedule. To attend the counselling, candidates will need to download the call letter from the registration portal using their login details. The documents which are required for counselling are listed below:
