Gandhi Medical College (GMC) was established in the academic year of 1955 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh with the help of state government. The college was declared as an ‘Autonomous' body in 1997. It is one of the oldest and prestigious medical colleges of MP. the college is affiliated to Barkatullah University and is approved by Medical Council of India. The idea of establishing the college was to provide medical education to the interested students. GMC started its journey with its first batch of 50 students and 2 departments namely Anatomy and Physiology in the college.

The infrastructure of GMC is spread in Fort of Fatehgarh (Madhya Pradesh). The campus is composed of several houses and all the essential facilities are built in the campus itself.
The college has a central auditorium, four lecture theatres, four examination halls, Boys' common room, Girls' common room, central library and sports complex
The classrooms are spacious and large enough. Some of the classrooms have projectors installed for students welfare

There is one newly constructed fully air conditioned modern lecture theatre which is well projected with a projector and helps in better understanding of the subjects
The central library is housed in the main building of the college. Best part of the library is that it is constructed in the underground floor of the building. It is fully air conditioned
