About Diamond Harbour Women’s University: The Diamond Harbour Women’s University (DHWU) is located in Diamond Harbour, West Bengal. It is the first women’s university in West Bengal, established in the year 2013. This university was recognized under Section 2(f) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, in the year 2016. It imparts education in the field of science and arts. The first Vice-chancellor of Diamond Harbour University was Samita Sen and the current Vice-chancellor of the university is Kajal De. The Diamond Harbour Women's University has a well-developed infrastructure with many facilities. The infrastructure and facilities of this university include the following:
ACentral Library which consists of almost 6000 books in English, Bengali, and other languages, and almost 25 journals and some newspapers. The library also caters to e-learning facilities as it consists of more than 3000 e-books.
AGirls' Hostel is available which has hygienic food and water facility, a clean ambiance, computer and WiFi facility, and a reading room. Students from a low-income family and those from a long distance from the university premises will be given preference.
A medical room with a stretcher, a wheelchair and bed, and first-aid kits. The University also has tie-ups with two nearby government hospitals, in case of any medical emergency.
Two air-conditioned smart classrooms are there with a capacity of approx. 100 students. These classrooms are used for ICT-supported academic activities.
A large cafeteria is located near the academic building as well as the girls' hostel. The cafeteria consists of a kitchen, a sitting area, a refrigerator, wash basins with mirrors, and a television set.
The university also provides indoor and outdoor sports facilities for the students such as table tennis, carrom, volleyball, badminton, football, etc.
The university also has some more facilities such as an auditorium, laboratories, IT Infrastructure,WiFi, a gym, and a waiting room for visitors.

Important Points:
A candidate having an undergraduate degree in Education Honours or B.Ed, will be eligible to apply for an MA in Education.
A candidate having an undergraduate degree in Mathematics Honours, Physics Honours, BCA Honours, or CS Honours will be eligible to apply for admission.
Students can also gain admission through sports quota. State-level and national-level sports participants will get a 5% relaxation in the total marks.
Candidates applying to both M.Phil and PhD, should fill out different forms for applications.
For admission to PhD, candidates who have appeared and qualified in any of the NET, SLET, SET, or GATE exams, are not required to appear for the RET exam and can directly appear in the interview.
For admission to PhD, candidates who have appeared and qualified in any of the NET, SLET, SET, or GATE exams, and also qualified for M.Phil, should appear in the interview with a research proposal of 1000 words.
For admission to M.Phil, candidates who have qualified in any of the NET, SLET, or SET exams, are not required to appear for the written exam.
The minimum mark for appearing in the interview round is 25 for the general category and a 5% relaxation for the reserved category candidates.
