JEE Main 2018 Counselling Registration from June 15. Be Prepared!

The JEE Main 2018 Counselling schedule has been announced by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). According to the schedule released by JoSAA the counselling registration for the JEE Main and JEE Advanced qualified candidates will commence from June 15, 2018. The counselling will be conducted in 7 rounds through which the seats will be allocated for 97 participating Institutes including IITs, NITs, IIITs, NSITs and other CFTIs.

The Counselling and Seat Allotment Procedure will be conducted Online. The Counselling Procedure will commence with Online Registrations followed by Online Choice Filling and Locking of the Choices. The seats will be allotted on the basis of Availability of Seats and Rank obtained by the candidate.

Step by Step Counselling Procedure:

Step 1: Registration:

  • Visit the official website of JoSAA
  • Provide your JEE Main 2018 Roll Number and Password and Click on the Login Button
  • Read all the instructions carefully and select the ‘I Agree' Button
  • Online Registration Form will appear on the screen
  • Provide the Details carefully and select the Declaration button
  • Submit the Registration form by clicking ‘Submit' button
  • Re-check the provided details carefully
  • Select the ‘Confirm Registration' button

Step 2: Choice Filling & Locking:

  • Click on ‘Choice Available' button
  • Select Institute Type, Institute Name and Academic Programme
  • Click on ‘Choice Filling and Locking' button
  • Select Colleges and Courses. The candidates are advised to fill the maximum possible choices. The candidate must provide choices in decreasing order of their preference.
  • ‘Save' the options mentioned
  • The candidates must ‘Lock' the preference by clicking ‘Lock Choice'. The candidates must check the choices before locking as once the choices will be locked cannot be changed later.
  • The Choice Locking option will be available after each round of counselling

Seat Allotment Procedure:

  • Seats will be allotted according to the Reservation Norms, Choices Filled and Number of seats available
  • The Candidates will receive an e-mail or SMS regarding the seat allotment
  • The candidate must download the seat allotment letter

Payment of Fees and Seat Acceptance:

  • The candidate must pay the acceptance fees to confirm the allotment
  • The acceptance fees can be paid either through SBI Net banking or E-Challan
  • Get the documents verified at any reporting centre
  • The candidate will be provided with provisional admission letter after the completion of process

Reporting to Allocated Institute:

  • After the fee acceptance, the candidate is required to report the allotted institute along with the original documents
  • NIT, IIIT, IIEST and GFTI Colleges candidate must report at the reporting centres of these institutes whereas IIT candidates must report at IITs reporting centre only

Reservation Criteria:

According to the notification of the Government of India, the candidates belonging to the reserved category will be provided with the seats for reserved them. The Reserved Category includes following:

  • Other Backward Classes-Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL)
  • Scheduled Castes (SC)
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST)
  • Persons with Disability (PwD)

The candidates seeking admission in the State Engineering Institutes must check the reservation rules of that State before applying.

Documents Required for JEE Main 2018 Counselling:

  • Three recent Passport size photographs of the candidate
  • JEE Main Admit Card
  • JEE Main Score card
  • Provisional Seat Allotment letter
  • Proof of Acceptance fee payment
  • ID Proof
  • Date of Birth Proof
  • Class 12th marksheet
  • Medical centificate
  • Category certificate for the candidates of Reserved Category
  • Undertaking by the candidate

There were speculations that the JEE Main Counselling will be conducted by CSAB from the academic year 2018. However, JoSAA has released the counselling schedule and JEE Main Counselling will be conducted by JoSAA for the current year. It is expected that in the upcoming years, National Testing Agency (NTA) may conduct the JEE Main examination.
