The NEET Exam 2025 was held on 4th May across various exam centres as an offline paper-based-test (PBT). While the NEET UG result is expected anytime on or before 14th June 2025, NEET UG cutoff is a crucial factor when it comes to admission. NEET cutoff refers to the minimum marks that a candidate must secure to qualify the NEET exam and the cutoff is announced by NTA in the form of NEET qualifying marks. The NEET UG cutoff is announced on the NEET NTA official website - neet.nta.ac.in.

The NEET UG cutoff percentile remains the same every year and the cutoff score varies every year. The NEET UG cutoff is determined based on various factors like the exam difficulty level, number of candidates who appeared for the medical exam, seat availability, and more.

NEET UG 2025 Cut Off - Determining Factors

NEET cutoff 2025will be determined based on the following five factors.

  • Total number of candidates who appear for the examination: This year, the total number of candidates appearing for NEET 2025 is 20.8 lakh, which is approximately three lakh less compared to last year. Hence, the competition has decreased from last year.
  • Difficulty level of the examination: As stated above, the overall difficulty level of the exam has increased compared to the previous years. Hence, the NEET 2025 expected cutoff is also likely to go down. Check the NEET exam analysis here.
  • Performance of the candidates: Owing to the high difficulty level of the exam, it is anticipated that the highest marks obtained by candidates may not be 720. In that scenario, the NEET 2025 expected cutoff is likely to be lower.
  • Number of seats available: The total number of seats available for MBBS and BDS courses is 1,17,950 and 27,868, respectively. As compared to last year, the total number of MBBS seats has increased.
  • NEET cutoff for previous years: Last year, the difficulty level of NEET was moderate to tough. As compared to this year, the difficulty level of the exam was very high. Accordingly, the NEET 2025 cutoff is expected to go lower. Incidentally, the NEET 2024 cutoff was decreased by two marks after the retest was conducted.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the minimum qualifying percentile in NEET UG mean?

The minimum qualifying percentile in the NEET Cutoff indicates the threshold that must be met to successfully clear the NEET UG entrance examination.

If I qualify NEET, does it mean that I am eligible to appear for NEET counselling?

Yes, students who pass the NEET exam are indeed eligible to take part in the counselling process. Nevertheless, it's important to note that meeting the NEET qualification doesn't guarantee automatic admission to a medical or dental seat, as admission depends on factors such as seat availability and the candidate's ranking in the counselling process.

What is the cutoff score in NEET?

The NEET cutoff score varies each year depending on the difficulty of the exam, the number of candidates, and other factors. For the General category, the cutoff is typically around 50th percentile, meaning you need to score better than 50% of the total aspirants who took the test. In NEET 2024, the cutoff for the General category was 720-162, similar to previous years. The exact cutoff for 2025 is not yet announced, but it is likely to be in the same range, subject to variation based on exam difficulty and candidate performance.

Is 400 a good score in NEET 2025?

A NEET score of 400 can be considered a decent score, particularly for securing a seat in private colleges or for certain allied courses. While it may not be sufficient for government medical colleges, it's a good starting point for exploring private medical colleges or considering alternative options like BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery).

What is the cutoff for MBBS in aiims Rishikesh?

The expected AIIMS Rishikesh MBBS cutoff for the General category in the 2025 NEET UG exam is around 735 marks or 680+ marks, with the 2024 general category closing rank being 731. For EWS category, the expected cutoff is around 1200. These are expected figures, and actual cutoffs may vary.

How to see cut-off marks?

To find the cut-off marks, visit the official website of the exam conducting body (like NTA for JEE Main or IITs for JEE Advanced). You can also check previous year's cut-offs on the TNEA website or through admission cells of colleges. Some colleges may also provide cutoff calculators or information on their websites.

Is cutoff and marks same?

Cut off marks are the minimum of marks a candidate needs to score in order to pass the exam. In contrast, qualifying marks are the minimum of marks a candidate needs to score in order to qualify for admission into MBBS or BDS courses. Cut off marks are minimum marks required to pass the examination.

What are NEET qualifying marks?

The NEET qualifying marks are the minimum scores required to be eligible for MBBS and other medical courses. They vary depending on the category and whether the candidate is a person with a disability (PwD). In the general category, the minimum qualifying percentile is typically the 50th, while for reserved categories like SC, ST, and OBC, it's generally the 40th, and for PwD candidates, it can range from the 40th to the 45th percentile.
