The NEET 2025 counselling will most probably take place in the fourth week of July 2025, roughly a month after the results of NEET 2025 are announced, or at least in August 2025. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the NEET result of 2025 will be announced on or before June 14, 2025, and the counselling process will follow suit. NEET 2025 paper was held on May 4, 2025. Since the exam was tough, the cutoff has come down in NEET 2025 this year. Although the cutoff percentiles will remain the same, the actual scores have decreased. Additionally, fewer candidates have been qualified this year than last year.
NEET counselling will be done by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) online, apart from the last round, which is the institute reporting round. For the last round, the candidates will be required to physically report to the institute which has been allotted to them for document verification and for the completion of the NEET 2025 admission process. There will be around five to six NEET 2025 counselling rounds, and the counselling rounds can be increased based on vacant seats.
There are two categories of NEET 2025 counselling: 15 percent All India Quota (AIQ) seats and 85 percent State Quota (SQ) seats. The counselling for AIQ seats is carried out by the MCC, and State Counselling authorities conduct the NEET State Counselling process.

NEET Counseling Process 2025
NEET Counseling Procedure is as detailed below:
Registration Procedure:
- The candidates should register by logging in to the website. Without doing registration, candidates would not be able to indicate their choices for colleges and courses. On completion of the registration procedure, a unique user ID and password shall be generated that would be sent to the registered Email ID of the candidate and the mobile number. The candidate shall be able to proceed further after this.
Submission of Choice:
- Candidates would have to fill their choices regarding course and college as per their preferences. After this candidate shall click on Save Button to lock their filled choices. Without saving the filled choices, the choices shall not be considered as locked choices. Candidates are hence advised not to forget to lock and submit their preferences.
Modification and Locking:
- The candidates who are not satisfied with the allotted seats can modify their choices. Candidates can log in with their official credentials and modify their choices.
Reporting to Allotted Colleges:
- When the seat gets allotted to candidates, they would be required to report to the allotted college for seat confirmation. Candidates would be required to pay an initial fee and should complete the admission formalities. In case candidates reach allotted colleges after the given time period, the seat would automatically be transferred to the next candidate.
Second Round of Counseling:
- If any candidate is not satisfied with the allotted seats, they can proceed for the next round of counseling. Candidates who are allotted seats in the second round of counseling of 15% All India Quota would not be allowed to vacate the seat.

Counseling and Admission in Participating State Medical Colleges/Universities:
Candidates wishing to apply for admission in participating State medical colleges/Universities/Institutions using merit list of NEET shall follow the instructions of the authorities of the medical college/Institution/University concerned for counseling. Candidates are also advised to contact the authorities of State/Institution/University and remain in touch with their websites.
Counseling for Delhi University under 85% Seat quota:
In order to be considered for 85% Delhi University Quota, eligible candidates are required to appear in the NEET and also apply to the Faculty of Medical Sciences, the University of Delhi on the application form available from the Faculty of the Medical Sciences University of Delhi.
