The NEET 2025 counselling schedule has been released by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on 13th July 2025. As per the NEET UG counselling schedule, the tentative verification of seat matrix will be out by 18th July for round 1 and the NEET counselling registration shall begin on 21st July 2025. NEET 2025 paper was held on May 4, 2025. Since the exam was tough, the cutoff has come down in NEET 2025 this year. Although the cutoff percentiles will remain the same, the actual scores have decreased. Additionally, fewer candidates have been qualified this year than last year. NEET counselling will be done by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) online, apart from the last round, which is the institute reporting round. For the last round, the candidates will be required to physically report to the institute which has been allotted to them for document verification and for the completion of the NEET 2025 admission process. There will be around five to six NEET 2025 counselling rounds, and the counselling rounds can be increased based on vacant seats.

There are two categories of NEET 2025 counselling: 15 percent All India Quota (AIQ) seats and 85 percent State Quota (SQ) seats. The counselling for AIQ seats is carried out by the MCC, and State Counselling authorities conduct the NEET State Counselling process.

The central and state counselling processes of NEET are conducted by 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats for admission to MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing courses at Central and Deemed Universities, AIIMS, JIPMER and AFMC institutes. On the other hand, the 85 per cent state quota seats for medical admission are conducted by the State Authorities for admission to state medical colleges.

NEET 2025 Counselling Eligibility Criteria

NEET Counseling Process 2025

The NEET Counselling procedure involves 5 major steps → registration, choice submission, modification and locking, reporting to allotted colleges, and further rounds of counselling. The step-by-step NEET counselling procedure has been discussed and explained below.

Registration Procedure

The candidates should register by logging in to the website. Without doing registration, candidates would not be able to indicate their choices for colleges and courses. On completion of the registration procedure, a unique user ID and password shall be generated that would be sent to the registered Email ID of the candidate and the mobile number. The candidate shall be able to proceed further after this.

Submission of Choice

Candidates would have to fill their choices regarding course and college as per their preferences. After this candidate shall click on Save Button to lock their filled choices. Without saving the filled choices, the choices shall not be considered as locked choices. Candidates are hence advised not to forget to lock and submit their preferences.

Modification and Locking

The candidates who are not satisfied with the allotted seats can modify their choices. Candidates can log in with their official credentials and modify their choices.

Reporting to Allotted Colleges

When the seat gets allotted to candidates, they would be required to report to the allotted college for seat confirmation. Candidates would be required to pay an initial fee and should complete the admission formalities. In case candidates reach allotted colleges after the given time period, the seat would automatically be transferred to the next candidate.

Second Round of Counseling

If any candidate is not satisfied with the allotted seats, they can proceed for the next round of counseling. Candidates who are allotted seats in the second round of counseling of 15% All India Quota would not be allowed to vacate the seat.

Counseling and Admission in Participating State Medical Colleges/Universities

Candidates wishing to apply for admission in participating State medical colleges/Universities/Institutions using merit list of NEET shall follow the instructions of the authorities of the medical college/Institution/University concerned for counseling. Candidates are also advised to contact the authorities of State/Institution/University and remain in touch with their websites.

Counselling for Delhi University under 85% Seat quota

In order to be considered for 85% Delhi University Quota, eligible candidates are required to appear in the NEET and also apply to the Faculty of Medical Sciences, the University of Delhi on the application form available from the Faculty of the Medical Sciences University of Delhi.

  • According to the authorities, centralizing the counseling session would save a lot of time and money of all the applicants of all applicants as the entire procedure would be done at a single place at a specified time.

Reservation of AIQ Seats in NEET 2025

The Government of India has implemented 27 per cent OBC reservation (Non-Creamy Layer) and 10 per cent EWS reservation in 15 per cent Under Graduate (UG) All India Quota seats (MBBS/BDS) (contributed by the State/UTs to the Central Pool) in the selection of candidates through NEET UG counselling for MBBS.

How to Convert Nationality From Indian to NRI

Before each round of NEET counselling 2025, MCC will provide the option to convert the nationality from Indian to NRI. The process of candidates' nationality conversion and the conditions attached to it are given below.

Candidates willing to convert their nationality from Indian to NRI had to send the filled up form along with the requisite documents to the email idug.nri.mcc@gmail.com.

The following documents have to be uploaded in the email in the following order

  • Documents claiming that the sponsorer is an NRI (Passport, Visa of the sponsorer).
  • Relationship of NRI with the candidate.
  • Affidavit from the sponsorer that he/she will sponsor the entire course fee of the candidate duly notarised.
  • Embassy Certificate of the Sponsorer (Certificate from the Consulate).
  • NEET Score Card of the candidate.

Conditions Levied by MCC for Candidates Willing to Convert Nationality to NRI

MCC has laid down the following conditions for candidates who are willing to change nationality to NRI:

  • Candidates must have appeared and qualified for NEET 2025
  • Once the category is changed, candidates cannot avail of the benefit under the Muslim Minority quota/Jain Minority Quota/ SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS or any other Quota.
  • The conversion of the Nationality of candidates from ‘Indian’ to ‘NRI’ is ‘Provisional’ based on the documents submitted by the candidates which will be verified by the allotted college authorities at the time of reporting.

What is NEET UG Counselling 2025?

NEET UG counselling 2025 is the process where the MBBS, BDS, and other medical students are allotted seats after qualifying NEET 2025. This comprises the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) and the 85% State Quota counselling, which is conducted separately.
