NEET AIQ Explained

The NEET All-India-Quota (AIQ) is a 15% reservation that reserves seats for students all across India. These reservations are available at all major government medical and dental colleges in India through a centralized counselling process that is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). This allows students from any city to get into some of the top medical colleges in India such as AIIMS or JIPMER.

NEET 2025 Counselling Step-By-Step Process

Provided below is a simple step-by-step overview of the NEET 2025 counselling process. Following this guide will help students know what to expect from the NEET counselling process: 

1. Registration: Students must register for the NEET 2025 counselling process through the official NEET website. Students will be required to fill in their details with accurate and updated information. Doing so will provide students with their login credentials. 
2. Personal Details: After registering, students will be required to provide personal details. These include a student’s mother’s name, father’s name and residential address. 
3. Counselling Fee: After the previous formalities have been completed, students must pay the NEET counselling fee. For general category students, students must pay INR 1000 as a registration fee along with a refundable tuition fee of INR 10,000. After doing so, students will be provided with a registration slip, confirming their admission. 
4. Choice-Filling: This step of the NEET counselling process requires students to choose their colleges of choice. Students must fill-in their colleges in order of their preference.
5. Choice-Locking: Once students are satisfied with their choices, they must lock their choices to confirm them. No choices can be modified after they are locked. It is recommended for students to  take a printout of their choices. 
6. Seat Allotment: There are multiple rounds of seat allotment where students are allotted their seats in particular colleges. If a student is not happy with a particular seat allotment, they can participate in future rounds of counselling. 
7. Seat Confirmation and Reporting: If a student is satisfied with their allotted seat, they must report to that college to complete all formalities. Doing so is necessary to complete a student’s admission. Students will also be required to submit several important documents for verification. Only after completing these formalities will students be given admission.
