GATE 2026 Photograph Specifications

The specifications are as follows:
- Photo must be of good quality and a properly scanned passport-sized photograph (3.5 x 4.5 cm)
- The photo must have 60 to 70% of the student’s face.
- No caps or hats are allowed in the picture.
- No sunglasses or tinted glasses are allowed. Regular spectacles are permitted.
- The image must be uploaded in the JPEG format.
- The image resolution must be between 5kb - 600 kb.
- The face of the student must be clear.
- Only religious head coverings are permitted. The student’s face must still be clearly visible.

GATE 2026 Signature Specifications
Provided below are the signature specifications that students must need to meet when uploading scanned copies of their signatures as part of the GATE application process.
The specifications are as follows:
- The signature must be uploaded in the JPEG format.
- The aspect ratio of the signature is in the ratio of 1 : R.
- Around 70% to 80% of the image must be just the signature.
- The signature must be in either black or blue ink.
- The file size of the signature must be between 3kb to 300kb.
- The resolution of the signature must be between250×80 (min) to 580×180 (max).
- The signature must be the student’s own signature.
GATE 2026 Other Important Documents
Besides the passport sized photograph and signature, there are a few other documents that students will be required to upload as part of the GATE registration process. It is crucial students keep all the required documents ready with themselves before the application process for GATE begins.
