XAT score is considered to shortlist candidates for the further selection process. There are two steps in which the admission procedure can be divided.
XAT Admission Procedure – Shortlist
The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the performance of XAT. While some B-schools will only consider the score of Paper 1, i.e. the objective type part, some other B-schools will consider the scores of Paper 2 as well as Paper 1.
XAT Admission Procedure – Final Selection
The final selection process for XAT will vary from B-School to B-School. However, the common process is to conduct Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). Some institutes such as MICA conducts Group Exercise in lieu of GD.

Group Discussion: Each group consists of 8-15 candidates. All the groups typically are required to speak for about 15-20 mins on a topic. The topics would be related to current affairs, politics, social issues such as women's rights and emancipation or any other issue concerning advertising, education, technology or business.
Personal interview: Candidates are required to appear for the personal interview if they get shortlisted on the basis of group discussion, academics, achievements and motivation behind going for an MBA. The panel of jury members aims to test communication, confidence, and ability of thinking while being under pressure.
XAT Selection Procedure – Selection procedure of XAT will depend upon the general execution of the candidate. Each of the institutions will have their own Selection Procedure. Hence, the XAT choice system will shift from school to school. There won't be any basic advising round for every one of the foundations. Once the XAT outcome will be reported, all the universities accepting XAT scores will declare their cut off exclusively. Candidates who will clear the base XAT cutoff will be called for advanced XLRI Selection Procedure.
As indicated by XLRI Selection Procedure, all candidates taking an interest in the universities will shortlist the applicants based on results of XAT Selection Procedure. The Selection Procedure of XAT will comprise of three phases. The first round will incorporate the Registration. In the second round, applicants will be shortlisted based on the Result. Lastly, they will be called for Group Discussion, Personal Interview and Written Ability Test. Towards the end, the merit list shall be declared and the candidates would be selected.
XAT Selection Procedure-Stage 1
In the initial phase of XLRI choice process, candidates need to finish the XAT Registration method and show up for the exam. XAT application strategy will begin from August 2018 and will be proceeded till November 2018. Intrigued candidates must apply within the predetermined timetable. Length of the exam will be 3 hours and 30 minutes. Both goal and subjective sort of questions will be asked in XAT.
XAT Selection Procedure-Stage 2
As indicated by their execution in the XAT exam, candidates will be chosen for the further admission procedure. After the declaration of the result, every one of the organizations will release their cut off scores. Candidates meeting the base cutoff criteria will be shortlisted to show up for pre-affirmation rounds. It will be involved in Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI) and Essay Writing. The names of the XAT and GMAT candidates will be shortlisted by January.
XAT is one of the very competitive exams as a substantial number of candidates show up for the exam. That is the reason less number of candidates get on to further admission rounds.
XAT Selection Procedure-Stage 3
In the third phase of XLRI choice technique, applicant's execution in the whole choice process (Stage 1 and 2) will be assessed. Alongside the written exam and GD/PI and WAT rounds, candidate's scholarly profile and work experience will likewise be considered. The final merit list of chosen applicants will be distributed and shortlisted candidates will be offered the seats by institutes accepting XAT Scores.
Applicants must satisfy the qualification criteria of XAT. According to the qualification criteria, candidates should have done graduation of least three years from any perceived college or establishment accepting XAT Scores.
