XAT 2020 Application Procedure

The steps that have to be fulfilled for XAT Registration are as follows: personal details, payment details and other enclosures that would have to be provided with the XAT Application.


To register for the exam candidates need to follow the below steps:

  • Visit xatonline.net.in click on Register, create a new account with your personal email id, you will receive a unique XAT ID and registration link.
  • Click on the link and create your own password. (Next time you will be allowed to log in with this XAT ID and password).
  • Select your Citizenship (Indian/ Foreign / NRI).
  • If you are interested to apply for XLRI, select the program of your choice Business Management (BM)/Human Resource Management (HRM)/Global Business Management(GBM)/General Management Programme (GMP). Candidates not interested in any of the XLRI programs can skip this step.
  • Fill preliminary information (Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Father's Name, Mother's Name, Category and Phone Number etc….)
  • Provide your mailing address and permanent address.
  • Provide your educational qualification starting from 10th onwards.
  • Provide details of work experience starting from the latest job. Candidates desirous of applying to GMP must have total experience of five years till May 31, 2018.
  • Choose the XAT 2019 test city.
  • You can preview the inputs you have entered.
  • Please upload your scanned digital photograph and signature less than 1 MB (Click here for the process of uploading the photograph and signature).

Mode of Payment

Mode 1

Online Payment Gateway:

  • Through VISA/Master Credit/Debit Cards (American Express Card is inadmissible)
  • IDBI Net banking (this option is available only for IDBI account holder)

Mode 2

Cash Payment:

  • Please take a print out of the XAT Pay-In-Slip visit nearest IDBI bank and make the payment

Mode 3

Demand Draft:

  • Please make a DD made from any Bank in favor of "XLRI Jamshedpur A/c XAT" payable at Jamshedpur.

*Important: Applicant paying through Mode 2 & 3 should update the payment details on the registration page

  • Candidates only interested in XAT but not in XLRI need to pay a fee of Rs. 1650/-(Rupees Fifteen Hundred only). Candidates interested in XLRI program(s) needs to pay an additional fee of Rs.300/- per course. The late fee would amount to about INR 2000 which makes it INR 500 per XLRI course.
  • Print XAT Confirmation page, in future for all correspondence with XAT office, quote your XAT ID.
  • Please Send Confirmation page and the Demand Draft to: The Chairperson Admission, XLRI, Circuit House Area (East), Jamshedpur- 831001.
  • The same must be sent within fifteen days from the issuance of DD.
  • If you have made the payment other than DD you should not send the confirmation page.
  • Please download the XAT e-Bulletin from xatonline.net.in or www.xlri.ac.in
  • Please download the XLRI e-Brochure from www.xlri.ac.in or www.xlri.edu.
  • Candidates applying through GMAT may do so by following the instruction given on www.xlri.ac.in

XAT which was also formerly known as Xavier Aptitude Test is a national level examination for management students. More than 100 institutes consider XAT Scores for admission purposes. Students can register for XAT via the online mode.

The XAT Registration Fees would be INR 1650 for candidates interested in XAT Examination alone. If a candidate is interested in XLRI Programs, they are needed to pay an extra fee of INR 300 each. In the case of late fees applicable, students would be required to pay INR 2000 Application Fee and INR 500 for every XLRI Course. The fee payment can be done by way of debit/credit card, net banking, pay in slip or demand draft. The following steps need to be kept in mind by the candidate as well.

In case a candidate is unable to complete the application form in a single go, he/she can save the data by choosing “SAVE and NEXT” Facility to verify details on the application form and modify the same if necessary.

Candidates should carefully fill and verify details on the online application form so that no changes would be entertained after filling the FINAL SUBMIT Button.

  • The name of the candidate or his parent's name should always be spelled right in the XAT Application Form.
  • The Photograph and Signature to be uploaded as per the specifications.
  • The Preview Tab can be clicked and the application form can be verified before clicking the button to submit.
  • The Bank transaction fees for online payment of application fees would have to be borne by the candidate.

Signature and Image

  • The applicant would be required to sign on white paper with a black ink pen.
  • The signature should be signed by the applicant and not by anyone else.
  • The Signature can be used to put on the admit card and wherever it becomes necessary.
  • The image should have a scanner resolution to 600 dpi.
  • The size of the scanned image should not be more than 20 KB.
  • Set true color settings.
  • Dimensions 140 by 160 pixels would be preferred by the candidate.
  • The image file size should be in JPEG Format.
  • There would be two separate links to upload photograph and signature.
  • The candidate should click on the link “ Upload photo/signature”.
  • Browse and select the place/location where the scanned photo/signature has been saved for the candidate. 

XAT 2020 Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria of XAT is as follows:

  • Graduate or bachelor degree - Candidate should be a graduate or should have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized institute or university in order to apply for this exam.
  • Candidates have to complete their graduation by June - Candidate should have completed their graduation by the month of June only then he/she can apply for XAT exam.
  • Final year students of graduation -  Candidates who are in final year of graduation are eligible for applying to XAT.
  • The eligibility for XLRI programmes like Human Resource Management (HRM), Business Management (BM) is similar. Candidates with three years of work experience will be given preference in Global Business Management.

Note: There's no specific age limit for XAT exam.

XAT 2020 Admit Card

Admit card can be downloaded from official website of XAT once the admit cards are released by the authorities. The admit card carries all the personal information of the candidate along with the informations related to exam date, test center and the timings of the exam.

Steps to Download XAT Admit Card:

  • Visit the official website
  • Click on the ‘Download admit card' tab
  • Enter details like XAT 2018 Registration Number and DOB in DD/MM/YY format and enter submit
  • Download the admit card
  • Take a printout of the admit card

It would be ideal if you take note of that your XAT Admit Card is a mandatory document required to be carried to the exam centre. In the event that you don't have the printed copy of your XAT Admit card appended with your photo on it, you won't get an entry to the XAT exam center.
