XAT 2021 Application Procedure

The registration procedure of XAT 2021 is conducted online and holds a straightforward approach. The registration procedure for XAT 2021 started on 12th September 2020 and a good number of applications have been received so far and students who haven't applied yet can do so by visiting the official website of XAT i.e. xaonline.in as the registration window is still open and will close on 30th November 2020.

Candidates willing to pursue their career in the field of management and take XAT 2021 must fill the application form before the registration window closes. The last date to apply for XAT 2020 is 30th November 2020 without late fee.

Candidates who are not able to fill the form of XAT 2021 by 30th November 2020 can do so till 10th December 2020 by making the payment of application fee along with late payment charges.

Steps to Register for XAT 2021:

The process of application to XAT 2021 is divided into following three parts:

  1. XAT 2021 Registration
  2. Application Form Filling
  3. Payment of Application Fee

As mentioned above, applying for XAT 2021 is a three steps procedure that must be completed by candidates applying for the exam. Candidates who have never applied for the exam are considered new user and they must complete the registration process before filling the application form. The next step to apply for XAT 2021 is filing up the application form. Candidates must ensure that they process the payment of application fee while filling the form.

Number of applications received for XAT Exam is seen to be increasing every year. There have been more than 80,000 students who appear for XAT Exam every year. Following chart depicts the number of applications received from year 2015 to 2019:

XAT 2021 Eligibility

Candidates willing to take XAT 2021 exam must ensure that they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria defined by the institute. They must check if they are eligible to take the examination or not. Following are the required minimum qualification in order to appear for the examination:

  • Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree of minimum of 3 years.
  • Final year students can also apply provided they graduate by the time XAT 2021 Result is declared.
  • Candidates applying through GMAT have given the opportunity to apply for XAT 2021 by 31st December 2020.

XAT 2021 Registration Procedure

The Registration Procedure of XAT 2021 needs to be completed online on the official website of XAT i.e. xatonline.in. Below are the recommended browsers to fill the form:

  • Internet Explorer (Version 11) or
  • Mozilla Firefox (Version 50-60) or
  • Google Chrome (Version 50-69)

New User Registration

If the candidate is applying for XAT 2021 for the first, he/she must ensure that they register themselves on the official website of XAT for further process of application. Following are the steps candidates must follow to register themselves:

  • Visit the official website of XAT i.e. xatonline.in.
  • Click on “Register” tab on the left corner of computer screen.
  • Candidates must fill in the registration details to get XAT/GMAT ID and Password.

XAT 2019

The registration details require basic details such as Name of Candidate, Date of Birth, Email Address, Country, and Mobile no.

During the registration procedure, candidates must choose if they are applying through XAT or GMAT. Candidates applying through XAT can fill the application form by 10th December 2020 (Tentative-with late fee) while candidates applying through GMAT can do so by 31st December 2020.

After the successful completion of filing up of registration from, candidates must click on the check box and “I Agree” (after entering the captcha) tab given under “Declaration” to proceed further.

After these details are submitted, the screen displays the following application details:

  • XAT 2021 ID
  • Candidate's Name
  • Country
  • Date of Birth
  • Email ID
  • Mobile No.

Application Form Filling for XAT 2021

After the successful registration, the candidates would receive a unique XAT ID and Registration Link within 24 hours of signing up. Candidates can click on the link to fill the application form.

In case candidates didn't receive the ID and Link, they can contact on the following email id and mobile no. and wait for their response in next 48 hours:

Candidates with XAT ID and Password can complete the process of application by clicking on “Login” tab available on the upper left corner of the screen. Candidates must enter the details such as Username and Password that they have received on their email id and click on log in tab.

Following are the Sections where the candidates are required to fill in their details:

  1. Personal Details
  2. Academic Qualifications
  3. Work Experience (If any)
  4. Program Details
  5. Payment of Application Fee
  6. Download Receipt

The above-mentioned procedures have been elaborated below to make it clearly understandable by the candidates wiling to apply for the examination. The candidates must ensure that these steps are followed chronologically in order to lead to a complete registration.

The candidates must enter their personal details such as:

  • Candidate's Name
  • Application Sequence
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Category
  • Father's/Husband's Name
  • Mother's Name
  • Address
  • Country
  • State/Union Territory
  • District
  • Town/City
  • Pin Code

Step 2:

Fill your Academic Details such as:

  • SSC/10th/Equivalent Details
  • HSC/12th/Equivalent/Diploma Course Details
  • Bachelor's Degree Details
  • Master's Degree Details
  • Other Professional Degree Details

Step 3:

Upload the required documents such as passport sized photograph and Signature. Candidates must follow the below mentioned guidelines while uploading the documents:

  • The applicant would be required to sign on white paper with a black ink pen.
  • The signature should be signed by the applicant and not by anyone else.
  • The Signature can be used to put on the admit card and wherever it becomes necessary.
  • The image should have a scanner resolution to 600 dpi.
  • The size of the scanned image should not be more than 20 KB.
  • Set true color settings.
  • Dimensions 140 by 160 pixels would be preferred by the candidate.
  • The image file size should be in JPEG Format.
  • There would be two separate links to upload photograph and signature.
  • The candidate should click on the link “Upload photo/signature”.
  • Browse and select the place/location where the scanned photo/signature has been saved for the candidate.

Step 4:

Work Experience Details:

Candidates must update and enter their work experience details if they have. Candidates with no work experience can also fill the form but candidates with work experience are given preference.

  • They must mention their most recent experience first and so on up to a maximum number of five employment.

Step 5:

In this step, the candidates are required to enter the program details they to apply in. The candidates must define the field and program they wish to pursue their career in. Following are the courses that they can choose from:

  • Business Management
  • Human Resource Management
  • General Management Program

After the selection of required program, the candidates will be redirected to a page where they must choose their most preferred institute for the each of the programs.

Step 6:

Selection of Test City:

After the selection of preferred institute, the candidates must choose the Test City (from the drop down) they wish to take their test from. The test city option is to make their test taking procedure convenient hence candidates must choose the most suitable test venue for taking the examination.

Step 7:

Payment of Application Fee:

This is the last step to your procedure of application of XAT 2021. The candidates must ensure that they process the payment of application fee while filing the application form as the procedure remains incomplete without making the payment.

There are three payment modes to process the payment of XAT 2021 Application fee. These are mentioned below:

Mode of Payment

Mode 1

Online Payment Gateway:

  • Through VISA/Master Credit/Debit Cards (American Express Card is inadmissible).
  • IDBI Net banking (this option is available only for IDBI account holder).

Mode 2

Cash Payment:

  • Please take a printout of the XAT Pay-In-Slip visit nearest IDBI bank and make the payment.

Mode 3

Demand Draft:

  • Please make a DD made from any Bank in favor of "XLRI Jamshedpur A/c XAT" payable at Jamshedpur.

*Important: Applicant paying through Mode 2 & 3 should update the payment details on the registration page

  • Please Send Confirmation page and the Demand Draft to: The Chairperson Admission, XLRI, Circuit House Area (East), Jamshedpur- 831001.
  • The same must be sent within fifteen days from the issuance of DD.
  • If you have made the payment other than DD, you should not send the confirmation page.
  • Please download the XAT e-Bulletin from xatonline.net.in or www.xlri.ac.in
  • Please download the XLRI e-Brochure from www.xlri.ac.in or www.xlri.edu.
  • Candidates applying through GMAT may do so by following the instruction given on www.xlri.ac.in.

Points to Ponder:

  • Candidates should carefully fill and verify details on the online application form so that no changes would be entertained after filling the FINAL SUBMIT Button.
  • The name of the candidate or his parent's name should always be spelled right in the XAT 2021 Application Form.
  • The Photograph and Signature to be uploaded as per the specifications.
  • The Preview Tab can be clicked, and the application form can be verified before clicking the button to submit.
  • The Bank transaction fees for online payment of application fees would have to be borne by the candidate.

XAT 2021 Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria of XAT is as follows:

  • Graduate or bachelor degree - Candidate should be a graduate or should have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized institute or university in order to apply for this exam.
  • Candidates have to complete their graduation by June - Candidate should have completed their graduation by the month of June only then he/she can apply for XAT exam.
  • Final year students of graduation -  Candidates who are in final year of graduation are eligible for applying to XAT.
  • The eligibility for XLRI programmes like Human Resource Management (HRM), Business Management (BM) is similar. Candidates with three years of work experience will be given preference in Global Business Management.

Note: There's no specific age limit for XAT exam.

XAT 2021 Admit Card

Admit card can be downloaded from official website of XAT once the admit cards are released by the authorities. The admit card carries all the personal information of the candidate along with the informations related to exam date, test center and the timings of the exam.

Steps to Download XAT Admit Card:

  • Visit the official website
  • Click on the ‘Download admit card' tab
  • Enter details like XAT 2018 Registration Number and DOB in DD/MM/YY format and enter submit
  • Download the admit card
  • Take a printout of the admit card

It would be ideal if you take note of that your XAT Admit Card is a mandatory document required to be carried to the exam centre. In the event that you don't have the printed copy of your XAT Admit card appended with your photo on it, you won't get an entry to the XAT exam center.
