OVERVIEW.
2/5

Having worked for 3 years, I was pretty apprehensive about how college life was going to turn out. Little did I know that it was going to create memories for a lifetime. In a place like Chennai, coming across people from diverse backgrounds and from various parts of India is not very commonplace, but that is precisely what you see at LIBA. The learning experience you get from a diverse crowd definitely, adds value to the whole MBA experience. A great thing about LIBA is the affordability of the course. Probably one of the best ROIs for MBA Graduation investments. LIBA is within the sprawling Loyola campus. Being run the Jesuit fathers, it goes without saying that this is a no-nonsense place. However, it is comforting that the management recognises the difference between students and adults and they give us our necessary space. With 120 students per batch and with over 20 in house faculty members, the student to faculty ratio is pretty good. This allows for great mentoring by the faculty. I have personally benefitted alot from this. The infra is not on par with the best of colleges but the brilliant faculty makes up for it. You might wonder how the two go hand in hand but it's amazing what a brand name like Loyola can do. The best part about LIBA is the people. It's a big little family and we love our college despite its little shortcomings. As every Libaite would say. In LIBA, "Life Is Beyond Amazing".

PLACEMENTS

The college is known for its 100% placement (though there are students who opt out for higher studies and other reasons). The placement committee comprises of 24 members(12 1st year students and 12 second year students). These people work painstakingly for the sake of the entire batch of students in college. They take into account the students preferences and choices and leverage their contacts and actively seek out newer companies so as to meet the demands of the students who want to be placed in certain industries. For example, in my batch, majority of the students did not want to be placed in IT companies and this year, the Placement team saw to it that only 2 IT companies came to visit us with job roles suitable to the courses the students had studied. Finance roles and marketing roles saw an exponential boost in our placements this year and the entire batch is extremely happy with the outcome. In short, yes, the job opportunities exceeded my expectations.

We have regular visits from Industry Experts every week in a session called the "Beyond Management Initiative". There are also visits to shop floors and industries. These purely depend on the faculty for a particular subject.

ADMISSION
Admission Difficulty: Hard

Admission Criteria:LIBA was the only college I applied to because of my education being rooted in Jesuit Education since my school days. Though I am a catholic and the college grants special cutoffs for catholics, I was well above the general cutoffs and got a call letter for my GD/PI. The GD used a case study and there was a good flow to the GD. People were courteous and not overtly aggressive. The PI was also relaxed. The panel asked me about my work-experience and learnings from it, a few physics questions from school and a bunch of things revolving around the news for that month. It seemed like they were testing me for how I might fit into the college and bring in diversity rather than just looking for another A grader.

CAMPUS LIFE

"LIBAzaar" integrates a novel concept of disguised market research in the guise of a fun-fair. The fair is organized and supervised by Mark-it,the marketing club of LIBA. The format of the fair incorporates elements of disguised marketing and general entertainment to keep the crowd engaged. The research is conducted in the guise of game stalls and other attractions to simulate the feel of an actual fair. The games are designed to serve as a proxy for actual marketing questions. Being a part of one of the research teams and the promotion teams, I feel that students benefit by applying their conceptual knowledge in the execution of the LIBAzaar itself. LIBAzaar hosted a wide array of stalls including food, games, shopping and a lot more. The stalls had a bevy of entrepreneurs sell their products, services & ideas, thus giving them a platform to gauge & impress the crowds. The other highlights include Live music performances, stand up comedy, dance performances, a fashion show, a paintball tournament, interactive games & quite a few freebies. The funfair was a learning experience as well as a fun day for us and for the people of Chennai. We got to interact with brilliant entrepreneurs and the regular citizens of Chennai. It was a brilliant experience.

The Marketing Club is probably one of the popular clubs in college because of the versatility of the club and the fun activities they conduct in the college. However, the most popular club in the college would unanimously be the "Radius Club" which is the social service initiative managed by the students at LIBA. Every student is a member and it aims at bringing about a positive change in the society by leveraging management skills and techniques imbibed at the institution.Several programmes are held throughout the year for the upliftment of the downtrodden. The perspective on life changes for every student who takes part in a Radius activity.

OVERVIEW.

Let's start by accepting the inevitable truth, LIBA molds you, to be the best you can be. And the good thing, it all happens as you are turning into a full fledged Management Graduate. Situated in the heart of Chennai, inside the lush green and vast Loyola College Campus, LIBA offers one of the best management programs in the country with one of the best ROI. The faculty of this institute go beyond the realm of professors by helping each and every student in every way possible, to reach the common goal of the institute - Excellence and Ethics. The curriculum is diverse and involves ample amount of practical and outbound learning. Managed by the Jesuits, ethics is a virtue here, which gets embedded in each and every student of this institute. Probably one of the very few B-Schools which offer dual specialisation (optional, but most students take this up to enjoy the best of two specialisations at once! ), LIBA stands out from the others in this aspect too. All said and done, life at LIBA is particularly cherish-able. With the right balance of studies - applications - presentations - management fests - events - celebrations - sports. It just teaches you how to manage time, which is precious of all the resources. By all means, a journey to remember and to be proud of.

The placements are diverse although LIBA has been the favourite for IT, BFSI and Analytics industry, with some of the the very best companies coming in for recruitment every year. Marketing is the most opted course in the college, followed closely by Finance (including students who take up dual specialisation).

The best event would be the annual B-Fest of LIBA - Chrysalis. The exposure here is immense as the whole college gets involved in hosting this National level fest where more than 30 top ranking B-Schools from various parts of the country participate to win the events. The events are both management based and cultural activities oriented. It's a fun learning and interaction phase which is enriching in every sense.

OVERVIEW.

LIBA- Life Is Beyond Awesome I would simply term the two years of stay in LIBA, a life changing experience. The kind of learning and exposure that we get from our college is something which makes the students discover their potential and groom themselves to become successful leaders of tomorrow. One very unique thing about LIBA is that, it doesn't restrict itself with just the class room learning. It encourages the students to be a part of various Clubs, Committees & other Initiatives which serves as a platform for the students to practically experience challenges and learn effective management lessons. These Initiatives greatly complement our class room learning as we are able to practically implement it real-time. True to its Vision of providing a quality education which always emphasises on Excellence & Ethics, LIBA always takes pride in giving to the society not only Competent managers, but socially responsible and excellent Leaders. So I would advice the aspirants to prepare hard for the Interview process and get into LIBA and make best use of the two years, to make yourselves a better person.

We have our Beyond Management Iniative in our college, which brings people from the Industry for interacting with the students. These sessions happen on a weekly basis. This gives the students a very good Industrial exposure.

I would call Chrysalis, the best event of our college. Chrysalis is the annual National level management and cultural fest conducted by LIBA, where students experience management by various events. From formulating business strategies and solving real-time cases, to rocking the dance floor with some awesome dance moves, Chrysalis proves to be a floor to showcase the multiple skills of the students.

The most popular committee of our college is 360 Degrees- The Student Affairs Committee Of LIBA. 360 Degrees, The Student Affairs Committee of LIBA functions actively throughout the year and plays a vital role in making LIBA lively and happening. The celebration of various festivals that the committee organises, helps the students to Celebrate the richness of cultural diversity in LIBA. The committee also addresses the grievances of the students, and represents the same to the Management. Hence it is the most popular committee of our college.
