JoSAA JEE Main-Only Differences
Provided below are the key-points about JEE Main-only students who appear for the JoSAA counselling process:
- Students who are appearing for the JoSAA counselling process after only giving the JEE Main examination will have one very significant difference. JEE Main-only candidates are not eligible for admission at any IIT. All IIT colleges only accept students who have given the JEE Advanced exam. However, JEE Main-only students are allowed and eligible for other top institutes such as NITs, GFTIs and NITs.
- JEE Main-only students are also eligible for participating in the CSAB counselling process. The CSAB counselling process takes place after JoSAA counselling has finished and does not allow JEE Advanced students to participate.
- JEE-Main only students are given admission to the top colleges on the basis of their overall rank on the JEE Main examination.
- The JEE Advanced students have another set of eligibility criteria to meet for the JoSAA counselling process along with the mentioned JEE Main eligibility criteria. This makes the eligibility criteria a bit easier to meet for JEE Main-only students, though still challenging regardless.
