What is WBJEE ?

WBJEE(West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination) is a state-government controlled centralized test for admission to many private and governmental medical and engineering institutions in West Bengal.

For the academic session of 2023-24, the Board will conduct the Common Entrance Examination for admission to Undergraduate Courses in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture Courses in Universities, Government Colleges and Self Financed Institutes in the State. 

WBJEE is a State-Government controlled Centralized Examination which is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board for admission to private and Government (Medical and Engineering) institutes in West Bengal. The test is taken after 12th Grade admission to graduate courses. The examination would be taken by those who study in the Pure Science Stream in Plus two level with subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.

About 3 Lakh people undertake the examination every day and the count is increasing. Students belonging to West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education and Central Indian School Certificate Board took the test, though it would mostly be dominated by the first mentioned. It is a prestigious examination and there are few of the students of the science stream who would not take WBJEE Examination in West Bengal.

Candidates must only complete and submit the WBJEE 2023 application form online. The procedures listed below describe how to apply for WBJEE 2023:

1. Registration: First, visit the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board's official website at www.wbjeeb.nic.in and select the "WBJEE 2023 New Registration" option. WBJEE Counselling 2023 

Participants in the counseling session must meet the eligibility requirements. WBJEE 2023 counseling sessions will be conducted online. Candidates must register on the official website and choose their college and course online. Allotted candidates must confirm their admission with the dates suggested by the authorities.

WBJEE Seat Allotment 2023

  • On the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board's official website, www.wbjeeb.nic.in, the seat allocation for WBJEE 2023 will be made public. 
  • Candidates may view the WBJEE 2023 seat allocation results by entering their roll number and password. 
  • The procedure of allocating seats will be carried out by the authorities for JEE Main and WBJEE qualifying applicants across several rounds. 
  • WBJEE 2023 seat allotment will be made available for two rounds of seat allotment and three rounds of WBJEE counseling for JEE Main qualified candidates.

WBJEE 2023 Eligibility

The required qualifications in order to be able to write the WBJEE Examination is being listed as below. Categories such as Age, Nationality, Qualification and Domicile are some of the few that the candidates would be required to fulfill. If the candidates do not fulfill the WBJEE Eligibility criteria before applying for the WBJEE Application, they would not be allowed to write the examination.

  • The candidate must be 17 years of age as on 31 December 2023.
  • There is no upper age limit.

  • It can also be paid in cash using Allahabad Bank e-challan.

WBJEE 2023 Admit Card

WBJEE Admit Card will be available for download in 2nd Week of  April, 2023.

Candidates can log in on the specified date and download their Admit Card for WBJEE 2023. An Examination Roll Number will also be generated for each candidate.The admit card should not be mutilated/soiled/distorted.Failure to produce a clear hard copy of the admit card at the test center will lead to a withdrawal of candidature.Candidates are expected to retain the same admit card till the end of the counseling procedure.A duplicate admit card will not be generated after the exam.

The WBJEE Exam Pattern has been defined by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board. WBJEE Exam Pattern provides complete details about the overall structure of the WBJEE Examination. With the help of WBJEE Exam Pattern, candidates would be knowing about the examination mode, total count of papers, duration, questions and marks distribution and other associated details

Candidates will have to appear for a written examination in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

  • The mode of the exam will be offline.
  • 2 hours for Physics and Chemistry and 2 hours for Maths
  • Physics and Chemistry-80 questions for 100 marks;   Maths- 75 questions for 100 marks.

Once the WBJEE Result is declared, the WBJEE Cutoff details would be announced with immediate effect.

Cut off means the minimum rank required to be eligible to gain admission to the numerous colleges under WBJEE.

WBJEE 2023 Counseling Details

WBJEE Counselling will comprise of three rounds.

A fourth-round will be held if vacancies exist (for informed choice only) and students can register afresh as per guidelines.A separate notification for counseling was issued on the official website.Only the candidates who had made it to the merit list were able to participate in the e-counseling

Course and college wise details will be uploaded on the website before each round of counseling. Candidates will have to report to a counseling center at a specific date the details of which would be available on the rank card issues to the selected candidates.

The general merit rank will be used for allocating the seats.The merit list for the different categories will be announced separately.

In case of a tie,

  • Less negative marks in PCM taken together 
  • More positive marks in Mathematics and Physics taken together
  • More positive marks in Mathematics and Chemistry taken together 
  • Less negative marks in Mathematics and Physics taken together 
  • Less negative marks in Mathematics and Chemistry taken together 
  • More positive marks in Mathematics for only the 2 marks questions 
  • More positive marks in Physics for only the 2 marks questions 
  • More positive marks in Chemistry for only the 2 marks questions 
  • Less negative marks in Mathematics for only the 2 marks questions
  • Less negative marks in Physics for only the 2 marks questions.

If a tie still persists, the date of birth of the applicants will be considered.Candidate elder in age will be given the advantage.

Reservation

Seats have been reserved for ST/SC/OBC/PwD candidates.Depending on the category of the participating institution, the percentage of reservation varies. 

In State/Government Universities, the reservation criteria is according to the rules of the state government. In Private colleges, reservation is according to the rules of the University.

Some institutions have been granted the minority status.50%of the seats of these institutes have been reserved for the minority candidates.However, admission to these is only through a separate entrance exam conducted by a common minority association.The remaining 50%seats of these colleges are up for grabs through WBJEE only.

A few seats have also been reserved for wards of defense personnel.

10% Seats of self-financed institutions are reserved for the candidates who have achieved a merit in the JEE mains examination.

There is a 10% reservation for management quota in the self-financed institutions.

The candidates would have to verify if the correct test center is mentioned in their WBJEE Admit Card apart from the following details mentioned as below:

A total of 1,00,433 candidates had appeared for the exam for 32,000 seat all over West Bengal.

Score Evaluation

Two separate merit lists shall be issued.

One will be in the form of a GMR applicable for admission to all Degree Level Engineering / Technology / Architecture Courses available in all enlisted Engineering / Technology Colleges and Universities.This list will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidate in the WBJEE examination.A  separate category merit rank will also be issued for the candidates belonging to different categories.

The other merit list will be in the form of  PMR applicable for admission to all Degree Level Pharmacy Courses available in all enlisted Pharmacy Colleges and Universities except the degree level pharmacy course available at the Jadavpur University. The list will be prepared in descending order according to the marks scored in the entrance exam.
