Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, was founded by the Kalyan Bharti Trust to provide quality higher education in the area. HIT Kolkata is one of six educational institutions under the trust, which also includes The Heritage School, The Heritage Academy, Heritage Business School, Heritage Law College, and The Heritage College. HIT Kolkata has been accredited an 'A' grade by NAAC with a CGPA of 3.13 and has autonomous status as approved by the UGC. It also has NBA accreditation for suitable courses and AICTE approval.
Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata is affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT). Admission in the Heritage Institute of Technology in Kolkata is entrance-exam based for its master and undergraduate programs. For its B.Tech course, the applicants should have 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The HIT Kolkata admission applicants are selected on the basis of marks in either the WBJEE or JEE Main entrance exams, and then counseling is conducted. 80% of the total B.Tech seats are occupied through WBJEE, 10% through JEE Main, and 10% are reserved under a management quota.
The Heritage Institute of Technology admission lateral entry into the second year of B.Tech is available for B.Sc. graduates and diploma holders who pass the JELET entrance test. Postgraduate courses have admission to M.Tech based on MAKAUT PGET or GATE scores and to MCA based on the WB JECA exam.
