Now let understand each of these 7 steps in detail and go through the NIMCET counselling process. Candidates are advised to carefully follow each step.

Step 1 → Registration & Fee Payment

The first step to be able to participate in the NIMCET counselling process is to register for NIMCET counselling on the online portal and pay the requisite fees. Now to register for the counselling process, the following process must be followed. It must be noted that the candidate can only register once for the entire NIMCET counselling for all 3 rounds.

  • Enter the NIMCET application number, DoB, Parent/Guardian Names as filled at the time of NIMCET application
  • Once the details are authenticated, the candidates can chose a password for subsequent logins
  • Once the password is set, candidates will use their NIMCET application number and password for all future logins
  • Once the registration is completed, the candidates can login and begin filling the NIMCET counselling form
  • Pay the NIMCET counselling fees to move ahead in the process. Without payment, no candidate will be allowed to fill and lock choices.

Step 2 → Choice Filling and Locking

Once the registration has been completed, the next step is to enter the choices and lock the preferred ones in due time and before deadline. The following points must be kept in mind during this step and the following procedure be followed.

  • Candidates must fill in their choices of NITs in their preferred order. For example → if NIT Agartala, NIT Warangal, and NIT Allahabad are your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice respectively, they must fill the preference in same order.
  • The choices filled must be based on their NIMCET rank and college preference. The NIMCET counselling website will only show eligible and valid choices to the candidates.
  • The choices must be locked before the deadline, and if not locked, the last saved choices will be automatically locked.
  • Candidates can re-order or change their preference of choices any number of times until locked.
  • Candidates must carefully choose their choices as once locked in first round, there is no option to redo in the subsequent rounds.

Step 3 → Seat Allotment Rounds

Once the choices have been locked by the candidates, the next step is seat allotment. There are typically 3 rounds of seat allotment, and a special round is conducted only when the seats are vacant after third round. Given below is a comprehensive guide for the seat allotment rounds.
