A public technical university called the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (NITK Surathkal) is situated in Surathkal, Mangalore, Karnataka, India. Originally known as the Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC), it was founded in 1960 and later changed its name to the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in 2002.

Admissions are available for numerous courses at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) Surathkal, including 11 undergraduate, 57 postgraduate, and 14 doctoral-level programs. NITK Surathkal’s admissions process differs depending on the degree and level of study. Candidates should take the appropriate entrance exam, such as the JEE Main, GATE, JAM, CAT, MAT, NIMCET, NET, UGC-CSIR exam, or DAE-JEST, before submitting an application for admission at NIT Surathkal. The results of the entrance exam are used to determine admissions at NITK Surathkal. Each course has its own eligibility requirements and method of admission selection in order to enroll in the chosen course.
Candidates must participate in JoSAA Counseling and have a valid JEE Main score in order to be considered for B.Tech admissions. Candidates for the M.Tech, M.Tech (Research), and Ph.D. programs must pass the required qualifying exam with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 6.5 on a scale of 0 to 10, or not less than 60%. An online or offline written test and/or interview are required for admission to the M.Tech, M.Tech (Research), and Ph.D. programs at N.I.T.K., Surathkal.
