JEE Main Time Management Tips

Provided below are some useful tips that students can use when trying to work on their time management skills for the JEE Main exam. As students have 3 hours to answer 75 questions with several difficult numericals, time management is highly important to score high marks on the exam. Following these tips can ensure students are able to manage their time on the JEE Main examination effectively and efficiently.

The tips are as follows:

Properly Allocating Time

During the preparation process for the JEE exam, students should properly divide their time on each section depending on their understanding of the topic, overall difficulty and questions per section. For example, if a student finds Physics to be too difficult, they can leave that for later and focus on the sections of the examination that they are more familiar or confident with. During the last stages of preparation as well as during the JEE Main exam itself, students must be familiar with which sections of the exam they are more familiar with or have a stronger understanding in. Accordingly they can allocate time when attempting the JEE Main examination.

Have a Timetable

Having a well-rounded and structured timetable when preparing for the JEE Main exam is crucial to developing effective time management strategies for the examination. Creating a timetable can help enforce better time management habits that can enforce a student’s discipline.

Students can create timetables according to which subjects or topics they are weaker or stronger in. For instance, if a student is weaker in Chemistry, they may dedicate more hours within a day or week focused on solving Chemistry-based questions and can accordingly balance the other sections of the JEE Main exam when preparing. Students can also adjust their timetables according to which subjects they want to focus on. This could involve spending one week mainly focusing on a particular topic of Physics and moving to another difficult topic in Maths for the next.

Mock Tests

Giving Mock tests is a very good and effective way for students to practice giving the actual examination. Mock tests help students know which sections they are weak in and which sections they are stronger in on the JEE Main examination exam. Mock tests also allow students to develop accuracy as well as speed which is crucial for effective time management. Thoroughly analyzing their speed for each attempt and finding where improvements can be made is key for students to score well on the JEE Main exam. This will ensure more ground can be covered in lesser time, especially for the more complicated numericals part of the JEE Main examination.
