The National Testing Agency (NTA) releases the eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2024 Exam Session 1 (January) will be conducted on 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31 January and 1 February, 2024. This year the eligibility criteria is released along with the commencement of JEE Main Registration 2024 through official brochures of NTA. Before applying for the exam, candidates would be advised to check if they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria defined by the agency. If the candidates are not found eligible as per the requirements, NTA has the authority of cancel the candidature at any stage of the admission procedure. The eligibility criteria generally consist of vital aspects such as minimum educational qualification, age limit, nationality etc.
JEE Main Exam will be conducted in two sessions i.e. in the month of January and April. The JEE Main Application has been started on the JEE Main Official Website jeemain.nta.nic.in. The last date to regiter for JEE Main 2024 was 30 November 2023. The exam will be conducted online as it is a computer-based test.
Candidates appearing for JEE Main 2024 have given three options/papers they can appear in. These exams are Paper 1, and Paper 2.
Note* Candidates are given a total of three attempts (consecutive) in order to qualify JEE Main Examination.
The National Testing Agency defines JEE Main Eligibility based on the four parameters and students appearing for the exam must qualify each parameter in order to be eligible for JEE Main. These four aspects are as following:

The basic eligibility to appear in JEE Main examination would be having passed senior secondary school/12th class or qualifying examination. The detailed eligibility criteria given below would help you understand the requirements clearly.

Candidates are also considered if they are eligible or not based on the number of attempts, they have been given to qualify the examination. It must be noted that students can apply for JEE Main for three years that too consecutively.

The state code generally defines the state where the students have completed their senior secondary school from. This is another aspect based on which it is decided if the students are eligible to take JEE Main exam or not. Below is the list of State Codes for JEE Main Eligibility 2024.

It is mandatory to have scored at least 75% marks in aggregate in 12th class board exams. Candidates with top 20 percentiles will also be considered eligible for admission to NITs, GFTIs, and IIITs. Candidates belonging to the reserved categories will be required to secure 65% marks in aggregate.
The higher of the two scores in JEE Main Exam will be considered final by the officials.
Candidates can appear in JEE Main Exam for 3 consecutive years and as many times in a year as the exam is being conducted. The examination is being conducted 4 times a year and hence a student can appear 4 times a year and for 3 consecutive years.
Admission to B. Tech program offered by the NITs require Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and one of the subjects Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational.
For Paper 3 (B. Planning) of JEE Main 2023, candidates who have qualified class 12th exam with Mathematics will be considered eligible for the Paper 3.
No, there is no such requirement. JEE Main Eligibility criteria remains the same whether it’s an Indian applicant or International applicant. However, it is important to have secured marks/grades equivalent to the required percentage from a board recognized by AIU.
