The BITSAT Session 2 exams conducted by BITS Pilani will take place from 22 - 26 June, 2025. Knowing the BITSAT exam pattern and syllabus of any examination helps students prepare well. It is one of the important aspects that students must be aware of in order to qualify for the examination.

BITS Pilani will publish the BITSAT 2025 exam sample along with the official approval notification. BITSAT 2025 is carried out as a computer-assisted online test. The question paper contains 130 multiple-choice questions that can be answered in 3 hours, and for each correct answer the candidates are awarded 3 marks.

According to the BITSAT exam pattern, the question paper is divided into four parts, namely - Physics, chemistry, English and LR, and Mathematics / Biology. Candidates wishing to participate in engineering programs at BITS must answer questions related to Physics, Chemistry, Math, English and Reasoning.

On the other hand, candidates who wish to take part in the pharmacy programs must answer questions in Physics, Chemistry, Math / Biology, as well as English and LR.

Candidates are advised to go through the exam pattern of BITSAT carefully to understand the kind of questions that are asked in the exam. This will also help them in devising a well-planned preparation strategy to ace the exam.

The questions asked in the examination will be based on the 11th and 12th class syllabus of NCERT. The students appearing in the examination would be recommended to study from their NCERT books for each section asked in the examination. Besides this, the institute would also release the sample mock tests on its official website so that students can understand how the question paper is designed.

Candidates in this section can check the complete marking scheme of the BITSAT exam for each paper along with the total marks that each section will carry. It is to be noted that the BITSAT marking scheme has been revised and the marks have been reduced from 450 to 330.

Every right answer will be given 3 marks, while for each incorrect response1 mark is deducted. This means that the candidates must attempt every question with caution to avoid this negative marking and increase the chances of getting a higher score. No marks are awarded for any unattempted questions.

In the event that candidates can answer every one of the 130 answers within or less than 3 hours, they can attempt an extra 12 questions (four each from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry just). This gives the candidates a chance to score additional marks and increase their chances of getting a higher cutoff.

Candidates must note that the questions in BITSAT paper are arbitrarily chosen from an expansive question bank. Accordingly, candidates will get diverse question sets. A specialist board of trustees guarantees that the inquiry sets are of similar difficulty level, content, question compose, and so on.

What is the pattern of the BITSAT exam?

According to the BITSAT exam pattern, the question paper is divided into four parts, namely - Physics, chemistry, English and LR, and Mathematics / Biology. Candidates wishing to participate in engineering programs at BITS must answer questions related to Physics, Chemistry, Math, English and Reasoning. The question paper contains 150 multiple-choice questions that can be answered in 3 hours, and for each correct answer the candidates are awarded 3 marks.

Is there any negative marking in the BITSAT exam

Yes. The BITSAT exam does have a negative marking. Each incorrect answer will fetch the candidates a minus one mark. Therefore candidates are advised to be careful while attempting the questions. It is best to not attempt the questions you are sceptical about as unattempted questions do not fetch any marks.

Is 300 a good score in BITSAT?

To secure admission to the most sought-after branches at the Institute, a student should aim for a score not lower than 370-380 in BITSAT, which is regarded as a competitive score. However, it's noteworthy that the average score for BITSAT stands above 300.

Is BITSAT tougher than Jee Mains?

BITSAT questions are easier than JEE Main and require recollection of the appropriate formulae. The questions asked in JEE Main are more conceptual and require deep knowledge of concepts and techniques.

What is the cutoff of BITSAT?

Candidates can check the expected BITSAT cutoff that has been compiled by checking the previous year trends to know what they can expect for admissions. For BITS Pilani, the expected cutoff score ranges from 153 to 331 while for BITS Goa, the cutoff ranges from 205 to 295.

Will BITSAT be held online?

Yes. BITSAT will be held online i.e., as a computer-based test. The authorities will not conduct any other mode of examination. As per the BITSAT exam pattern, the candidates will have to select the correct option for the respective question from the available options. Candidates will have to be present at the examination centre, which will be allotted as per the preferences submitted in the BITSAT application form. The details regarding the allotted exam centre will be released through the BITSAT admit card.

How are the questions selected for the BITSAT paper?

To prepare the BITSAT question paper, the authorities will randomly select the questions from a large question bank. The questions will be selected from the 10+2th standard syllabus of Physics, Chemistry, English Proficiency, Logical Reasoning, and Mathematics/ Biology. Since the examination is held in different slots, the question sets will differ for the candidates. To ensure that the question sets are of the same difficulty level and type, an expert committee will be selected to prepare the paper. It is to be noted that the decision of the expert committee will be final.
